new to the site, i just started bow hunting last fall and now im hooked. ok so the thing is this i bought a alpine silverado used and do not know the age for sure but on one of the limbs it has 70# marked. i took it in to bass pro and the tightened the adjustment screw down all the way and was getting only 56 lbs out of it. now i have never replaced the string it looked good when i got it and i wax it regularly. can it stretch that much or did i just buy a piece of junk? any other ideas would be greatly appretiated. thanks

    Sounds like weak limbs.

I doubt the limbs weakened. I'd lay money down on the string/cable creeping. If you can find all the specs for your bow, match them to your ATA, brace height etc... If your string and cable lengths are still marked on your bow, get yourself a new set ASAP and measure your specs again. You'll probably find it damn near 70lbs again.

I agree with Rob. It's very likely the string (and/or cables).

My bet is since it was a used bow they replaced the string wih the wrong sized one. It should be pretty easy to get it back to proper strength. I don't buy that the limbs got weak. Find out from the MFG what the length of the string is supposed to be. It should be a simple fix and congrats on the bow and your new sport.

Seems like ALOT of lost draw weight for strings and cables.I supect you have other issues as well.Make sure the scale is correct as well.

I have seen this in an Alpine before and I tightened the limbs down all the way and did a tiller check.I could immediately tell a limb was weak because the tiller was WAY off.

Alpine warrantied the bow, even though it was a second owner bow.

They actually went well beyond warranty, they replaced the bow with a more current model after they sent the wrong limbs(80# limbs instead of 70#)Now that is customer service.

i got ahold of alpine and they told me the string needs to be moved to a different peg on the cam but it would lengthen dl so im gunna try this first. i think they said if the limbs where bad they would help me out even on an 10yr old bow. by far the best customer service ever! they also said they had replacent cams for it still for sale to help with dl so now im pumped! next bow is def. going to be a alpine!
