I'm hoping to check this thread in the morning and getting good news. That's a sickening feeling to not know what happened.
Still no sign of her this morning....I'm going to take a rifle with me and go check one last little stretch of fence that I couldn't get to yesterday just to make sure she isn't caught. Unlikely but you never know. I still fear the dog pack probably got her but will probably never know and I doubt anyone will have problems with that pack of dogs again either.
Did you call the police/dog pound? Maybe someone picked her up and took her to the pound? I sure hope you find her!
I live so far out in the sticks, there isn't a dog pound within 20 miles..if that. Nearest cops are about the same.... If someone picked her up, it was to keep her....which could very well have happened. I drove around and looked around all the neighbors yesterday but some are far enough off the road that I couldn't really get to look and gates were closed. If someone picked her up and took her and live fairly close by, she'll make her way back to her two sisters the first time she gets loose. If other dogs killed her, it was way off my property, the last two days I've pretty much scoured all my land here with no trace of her. I knew they roamed fairly wide before but even then they generally stayed here on the creek, it's like she just flew away. It's sure discouraging. I wish I had her chipped, even if she's dead somewhere I'd rather be able to find her than to think she may be injured somewhere and just can't make it back and suffering. I've just been physically sick over it since the afternoon she didn't come back.
Call around anyway. It's worth trying. We had an Irish setter end up at the pound 25 miles away. We called to local police first but they said they didn't see her... but somehow she ended up at the pound.
A dog showed up here outside of town a couple weeks ago, had come from just outside KC. Had been missing for weeks. Even made the Wichita news. She is now home with her family after a journey of a few hundred miles. lol Missing Kansas dog turns up 150 miles from home | Local News - Home found it OK so 150ish mi.... still The Bowers neighbor our farm to the north a couple miles, it only caught her attention cause she was worried about her chickens.. lol
