One of my neighbors has a depredation permit because the deer are destroying his soybeans. He asked me and my son if we could help him out. It's in an area that I have always wanted to hunt and I've seem some really good bucks there. Even if he can't get our names on the permit, I'm sure he will let us hunt it as soon as season starts. I'm stoked!!!

If given the opportunity, would you want to help out with a depredation permit?

Yes I would. Although, I would help, it would be hard for me to take a buck right now considering antlers are not fully developed. I believe I would have to pass them up, take some doe's and hope that caused the bucks to move more so that I would have a better chance durring the season.

That was my plan. Take out a few does now and pattern some good bucks. Maybe harvest one around the middle of September in velvet.

I would get does now until season starts, sounds like either way you'll get to hunt. I would wait until they get done growin and smoke one!

I would take does WITHOUT fawns. But that is it for now. A big ole velvet buck in early September would be hard to pass too :)

I'm not a big fan of those permits cause some people will go crazy and knock out everything thats brown. But we had to get one for our farm 2 years ago, and we only took a few older does and a buck who was in some bad shape.
