Its been several years sense we have gotten a chance to hunt together. His legs are pretty much shot, so walking is out of the question, but tree stand or box blind. Can anyone point me in a direction? It would mean a lot to me, and its somthin I really want to get done before we both get to old. Thanks everyone! God bless

Well.. Personally a mule deer hunt packing in and hiking would be up my alley. But he's just not able to do that so.. Really anything where we could spend some time together, harvest an animal and just enjoy our visit, I'm not going to be to picky lol

    Big game?
    What part of the country?
    Bow or gun?
    What is your budget?

Would do an Alaskan Moose hunt? My time constraints (job) and $15-20K stops that dream.
Or are you thinking more of a long weekend within a 4 hour drive.

Mehh, I'd like to either do a whitetail or muley, maybe an elk? As far as where, I'm in Missouri so everything gonna be a drive lol. And I wanna use my new Gearhead T20 bow. Budget, 1200 or so? I had a guy say he could get me a elk cow for 1000? Buuuttt I'd really like a mule deer.

Bear. Tons of guides, can hunt them spring or fall, usually can 4 wheel right to the stand. As far as walking is concerned, I think it's one of the easiest ways to go.

Could also try antelope over a watering hole in a ground blind out west or go to Texas for a hog hunt. I haven't done either but it looks easy on TV :) Given the right outfiter I think you can be transported fairly close to where you will hunt.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

I was going to suggest this as well. Maine has a great bear population for a hunt over bait. As does just over the border in New Brunswick, Canada.

If I were going to hunt bear with a guide, it'd probably be in Canada. The guys at Big Grass do a good job. Dean can attest to that :tu:

There are hundreds of bear guides though, all over the country and Canada. Just be sure to do your research with any guide you choose.

I have done bear hunts in Maine and they are an easy, relaxing hunt. You only hunt in the afternoon so you got all day to piddle until you get in the stand, nothing rushed. Maine has a 4 week season and as has been stated a fairly good population and most guides are fairly reasonable but you have only the fall season and a 1 bear limit. Canada has a spring season, good population and a lot of areas allow 2 bears if you are so inclined. It is a rush to see bears "appear" at your bait site, you will enjoy it if you give it a try.

This makes perfect sense. It would be ideal for you and your Pop, since he can't do much walking.

Is he a VET. You could also look into places that accommodate wounded warriors. Outfits like that will already have set ups for people that have less mobility. Just a thought that popped in my head hope it opens up some options for ya. good luck and enjoy your time no matter where it is.
