what's the fastest, easiest to take care of, and most effective smalll area food plot that I could use?
I haven't used it yet but I've heard AMAZING things about whitetail institute imperial no-plow. It's wut ill be usin an my plots smaller then yours.
The thing is no food plot is going to produce "great" results without any work. Minimal things I will always do is do soil test, lime before seeding if needed, plant and fertilize. No Plows can do great but only if the soil is good. I only have "kill" plots or small plots the size you're talking about and they can be killer if done right!!
Very good points^ Soil test is a must, an I'm going to rototill the plot prior to seeding for better seed-to-soil contact.
You can plant immediately after spraying if you want. Round Up will not harm seeds, only growing plants. But it will take a while to kill of any growing vegetation that you have. That depends on your mix and what plants you have.
If it was me making a new plot on new ground I'd kill...till and kill again this first year. dormant seeds may shoot up if you kill than till without a follow up kill. You'll learn plots can vary greatly just by a few feet east or west...amazing how the soil can change and affect your plot.
If it is a new plot, I would spray once in May, and then again in July. Start working the soil in August, and plant. Thats how I do my fall plantings. John
