I can't say much for the DB-15 because I haven't handled one but this last fall at won a diamondback db-9 at a NRA benefit and its not really that great of a firearm. To me its not very good quality and just messing with it here and there I'm not real impressed. Although I have yet to put any rounds through it so can take it how you want and like said haven't dealt with the 15 but it'd haveta be pretty impressive for me to consider buying one.

Cheaper than Dirt are scumbags after what they did last year. I will never buy another item from them, regardless of the price after what they pulled. They were selling $700.00 AR's for over 2k.

Good info. I'm not opposed to that at all. I like that ARs are semi auto but don't need that. I want a gun that will rock coyotes. How far can a 223 be lethal from?

It is the exact same caliber that most AR platforms you are getting priced at are in. I know guys with practice and light to no winds can put a yote down at 400-500 yards consistently with their .223 set ups. Others claim even farther. I simply don't usually have that much space so mine is really sighted in for around 150 yards and I'll make adjustments accordingly if needed should a yote present itself farther or closer.

While agree in principle... if the AR's were selling for over 2k, then they weren't $700 ARs... they were $2k ARs. They are a business, and businesses are in it to make money. Why should they leave money on the table when everyone else is selling them for $2k? Don't like the price? Don't buy it. The market settles itself out (as it has now shown, with AR prices as low as ever with a huge surplus of them hitting the market).

Oh so true! Now is the time to grab Aks and ARs to be honest.

I'm all for free market capitalism, problem was that they were cancelling orders made at normal prices before the craziness.

Now I'm with tymiller on accuracy.
If you want it and at the lower cost and your just using it for hunting, go with the bolt gun.
Not saying that AR's can't be great shooters, after all my son's AR is sub moa. But it was purpose built for that, cost a lot more than $700 and is feed my own hand loads.
And if you do go bolt gun, the 204 Ruger is an awesome yote round.

Thanks guys! You have made my decision harder lol. I will mainly be calling them in to a set but may do some run and gun style. So I really don't know what to do.

Now what about a scope? I found the Nikon p223 3-9x40 at amazon for $149.99. This seems like a good price but is it too much for the gun.

    3x9 is fine for a .223.
Something to keep in mind on the BDC reticle is that they are usually set for a certain bullet weight at a certain magnification.
Personally I prefer a mil/mil scope and do my own math.
As far as magnification I wouldn't go above 10x.
But it all depends on what you like.
Mine are all either ,zero mag, 1-4 or fixed 10x

Yeah I think I read that the scope is formatted for a 55 gr bullet which is the typical weight of a 5.56/.223 round.

Yep, also barrel length plays a factor.
Not saying there's any thing wrong with them, because you'll have to confirm them at distance anyway. If you want to hit what your trying to anyway.
I just figure if I gotta do it, might as well do my own.
How far are you going to shoot?
Because if its inside 300yd take a look at the 50/200yd zero for the .223, it'll put you within 8 inches out to 300 with the same hold.

I'll be going out to the farthest around 300 possibly 500 after some practice.

The P223 scope is a pretty good scope. I got one for my AR and am pretty happy with it. Did a lot of research before buying it and didn't want to pay a whole lot so I settled with that one. From what I read it preforms the best with at least a 18" barrel and zero'd @100 yards.

Redfield makes a pretty decent AR platform scope also for around same price or a little cheaper. Thinks its called the battlezone or something like that.

Head over to primaryarms.com and look at their line of scopes with the ACSS reticle.
Marshall and his guys are good people who stand behind what they sell and ship faster than logic.
I swear they've shipped stuff out before I hit confirm order.

They weren't selling 2k AR's, they were selling low end stuff at high end prices. I bought an AR local of higher quality for $1200.00 at the time and paid $15.00 for 30 rounds Mags they were charging 40-60 a pop. They taught me a lesson, shop local and support the guy that doesn't give a crap about their customer.

My only point is.... if it was selling for those prices then that is what it was worth. It's awesome you found better deals locally, and in a Walgreen's world business would always work that way (small town shops having the best prices and earning everyone's business)... but in a free market, demand dictates cost (especially with a low supply). The flip side is, those that wait will see the rebound effect from this (huge surplus in supply and a diminished demand from everyone having already taken part in the buying frenzy).... That's how we have our current market, More AR's than ever available and the lowest prices in the history of these guns being readily available.

The Optics Ready S&W M&P15 is a great starting point for your search. It's a good rifle that is priced right.
