I was looking to get some suggestions on the purchase of a bow and getting it set up for hunting. I plan to visit my local AZ stores to shoot before making a final choice, but I thought recommendations would help me narrow down my choices.

Some details that may help are: I have not hunted in 15 years and my only now before was a 1990ish High Country. My budget for everything is around $1,000 and I will be hunting whitetail mostly. Thanks a lot

You have a good budget so that helps .

I would start by looking at the hoyt charger. Economy bow with high end characteristics.

You may want to look at the used options as well.

The budget you have can get you a high end bow but you will have to watch the accessories. You can easily spend several hundred by the time you get arrows, sight ,rest and quiver. And pay taxes.:(

i would walk in a shop and just start letting arrows fly and narrow it down that way.

I have an X-force Pro-series. And I love it, if you are looking for fast, accurate, and somewhat quiet. It's the bow for you.

For $1000 you can get a Bowtech Assassin and upgrade some of the accessories and good arrows. It's an excellent bow

Yeah when I shot the Hoyt charger in the shop it was a really nice shooting now and a great one for the price. And with your budget you will have enough for all the extra goodies

Thats a good budget, just shoot everything you can get your hands on. Never know what might fit you best.

I love the Mathews Creed. It is expensive but well worth it. I would just go let some arrows fly and see which you like best

Thanks a lot for all of the input. After some shooting I decided to buy a used Mathews Switchback. Well below my budget but I am sure that after a target, arrows, a deer tag, etc. my budget will be met. Thanks again

get yourself a discounted bow from a dealer(mathews z7/extreme are great choices!) 5-600 bucks, then outfit it!
