LOL Okay, I figured I'd get y'alls attention with a post title like that! Now that I'm gonna be a E-biker to get to my super deep spots, I'm wanting to get a pair of rubber boots for my shorter walk, and for going into the deep swamp. I've never had a pair before, so I don't know what to expect. I wear a size 8 1/2 sneaker so I was thinking a size 9 1/2 or 10 rubber boot to account for thicker wool socks. I just bought a new pair of boots last year, but things have changed. I'm not wanting to spend more than $300. Thoughts and/or suggestions?
Dan Infalt recommended these on the hunting beast the other day. He said the way they make them makes them a lot more durable and long lasting. And as far E biking....as soon as I can I'm going to get one. Seen some places in Missouri where I could ride it for miles and fish. https://www.gumleafusa.com/shop/boots/the-saxon-classic-for-men-and-women/
Thanks Brett, I'll check those out! The E-bike is awesome, I went on a 25-mile ride the other day on a rail trail. It is definitely going to open up many more opportunities for me this fall.
I don't have the gum leaf boots, but have been recommended by many people over the years. Everyone that gets them loves them. The secret is they use pure rubber, not a blend that is in just about every boot made today. It basically will last forever. Well worth the price. Also the link Brett mentioned above about the The Beast, there is a discount code for like 10 percent off. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Gum Leaf supposedly is a heck of a rubber boot. I personally used to wear Lacrosse Alpha Burly's and they were super comfortable for short walks and while sitting in a stand. Almost like a giant slipper. I will say that if you have to walk too far, I'd wear thin socks and change out socks once you get to your treestand. Rubber does not breath at all and you're feet will be soaked. Fit is hard to say. I'd recommend trying them on in a store. I only say that because rubber seems to fit looser than a standard hunting boot. I am a 12.5 normal shoe and bought 13's in the Lacrosse and had plenty of space for thick wool socks.
I have the 1600g Lacrosse and those things are WARM. Don't wear them outside of very cold sits, but have been nothing but impressed with Lacrosse.
LaCrosse Alpha Burly, 1200 I believe. Side zipper makes for easy on/off. Im a 9.5 in a leather boot, ended up with a 9 with plenty of room for heavy socks. By far the best boot for snow and winter stand hunting, unless you buy some Mickey Mouse boots.
I use muck non insulated early season to 40* then lacrosse alpha burly 1000 gram 40* and lower. If it’s single or - I use my danners. If long walks I recommend light socks then change to new ones or heavier at or close to setup location, rubbers don’t breath.
I'm going on a fossil hunt in October on the Potomac river. I'm seeking input on a decent pair of rubber or waterproof hunting boots for around $50. Got a bit of a hike to get to the beach area where we will be hunting. Been looking on Amazon for ideas but can't bring myself to pay $75 to a $100 for, outside of this trip, something that will only be worn out on occasion. But I don't trust majority of the reviews they have. Thanks
I still wear the original 7mm Lacrosse Aero (the one with the thick rubber facing over the neoprene), good to about 30 degrees or so, I hate they discontinued those .. I use 'em from spring turkey thru much of the regular deer season till temps get stupid cold ... also have the 1200 gr Agility I'll wear from time to time .... for the cold I now have a pair of Fieldsheer electric socks (59%Merino) ... I have a pair of 1600 gram Pac Boots I got thru Sportsman Guide (been a very good cold weather boot, waterproof liner also) ... I havnt had a chance to try the socks in a real world hunt yet, but they DO warm up/via Bluetooth/Phone ... I have thin pairs of thermax liners to wear under the electrics and a thinner pair of merino hiking socks to try also ... the idea is to only turn 'em on when needed so they last longer (?) .... I'm always looking for a good cold weather rubber boot that wears like a running/hiking shoe that isnt bulky ... Ive often wonder about the Irish Setter Brand ?? .. https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/iri...am-thermoboost-insulated-rubber-boots-for-men
I've been wearing the MUCK Arctic Pro boots for probably going on 7 years now. I got an insulated boot because my feet get cold pretty easily, but I don't find them too hot in the warmer months though. They have held up well over time, but showing some wear now. I think I paid $120 for them, but they're up to around $160 now.
well, I got in the Irish Setter MudTreks (11's)... they are a 5mm neoprene/800 gr .... wore 'em once so far on a walkabout/scout/shed hunt ... comfortable, warm, easy to walk with, good support .. I think they'll go good with the Fieldshear electric socks .. Ive still got my two Lacrosse neoprenes and my Sportsmans Guide pac boots in 1600gr Thinsulate .. ...
