Anyone have any suggestions on some good books about deer hunting? I'm looking for anything that will help me learn how a deer uses the land they are on. Anything with reading maps, the daily life actions of a whitetail, or the basic biology side of why a deer does what it does.
Now why would I help you, you challenged me for the best buck killed in Jersey County?:D Try "Hunting Trophy Whitetails in the Real World" by Don Higgins. It's a good read. But I'm still gonna kick your ASS!
I've been doing my homework all year long, your a little late. J/K The Drury's also have a good DVD Series with some good tips for setting up in the right places and things you can do to improve your odds. It's the 100% Wild, 100% Fair Chase Series. I'm sure you got some good ones running around your properrty too. You aren't that far away and it's good deer country. We have to meet up some time, maybe at Schnettgoeckies, or you could stop by my place sometime.
Oh yea they are there for sure! And we will for sure have to meet up sometime this season. Maybe my Mathews can put a little hush to that Bowtech of yours
Bowhunting Mega Bucks - Michael Hanback Strategic Whitetail Hunting - Tim Hooey I learned some from both of these. The Hanback book covers alot of basics, and it was alot of stuff already knew. The Hooey book goes pretty in depth about whitetail behavior and how you should approach hunting. Personally, I think Tim Hooey is on the verge of insanity, but I did like his book.
I have Fitz's copy of Mapping Trophy Bucks. If you want it PM your address to me. I'm done with it and he told me to pass it on.
Thanks for the offer, but I jumped on a used one off ebay last night for a few bucks. I appreciate it though.
