So I've hunted this place for about 6 seasons now and I have a general idea of where the deer run/bed ect.. It's 16 acres surrounded by multiple fields and tons of woods as you'll see in the pictures below. But I have not been able to connect on a or even see a buck bigger than an 8pt on hoof while hunting the last 3 years. They're there.. I've seen some monsters running around but not while hunting. Curious to hear what you have to say on where I should place some stands this year since I'm planning a trip to move them around in the coming weeks... Hopefully this isn't too confusing but this is my current plan. So the BLUE lines are the general deer trails and paths they run. The GREEN circle is doe bedding area. The RED x's is where I want to put a stand. The blind logos on the map are permanent blinds as one is actually my garage...(Shh it's not cheating) and the other I made of of old telephone poles. However the stand logo towards the top of the map I want to move closer to where the two blue lines connect because everytime I hunt that stand I see deer heading towards to bedding area but they're a solid 40-60 yards away. The x I have close to the road is in thick pines. The x at the top of the map is in oaks. The x on the right by the pond is also in oaks if that helps. That field is also a just hay. No crops. I think I have a good plan setup for this season but please if I am missing something that you think would benefit me feel free to throw some advice my way. Thanks for taking the time to read! I think the two Xs on the right are good places to start. One thing I like to remember is that you can always move a tree stand, and don't be afraid to. I personally like to be between food sources and doe bedding when the rut comes along. It looks like your on the right track though!

What jumped out at me is that you haven't seen any big bucks but you know they are there and then you say that blue lines are the general deer trails and paths. I would say if you haven't been seeing the big bucks on those trails that the big guys are probably using some thicker stuff to travel through. I would try to get as close to or into the thicker stuff for your stand locations and always remember to keep wind in your favor. Good luck!

Well I've seen them but it's been at night when I'm riding the quad around the paths and stuff and on trail cams but never when hunting. Maybe I will try the thicker stuff I guess or atleast put a camera up in it

I would say, pick your stand location base on wind, bedding, food, trails in that order. I know my area has West and NW winds most commonly during hunting season so when I hang a stand it is try to optimize the sit entrance and exit for those wind conditions

Did you say it's only 16 acres? If so you gotta baby it for starters. Riding a quad on it ain't babying imo. Gotta rest it n only hunt that spot when everything is perfect. I have big pieces n still rest em, some of the farms over 1000 acres which may not be big everywhere but I'm trying to compare it to 16acres. Id only hunt the farms once a week or so. My buddy has lots of tiny pieces n hunts em once or twice a year. He does well.

Big bucks don't get to be big bucks by being stupid.

They usually do not use the same trails as the does and young bucks use.

We had a tornado go through and we lost tons of trees so we were riding the quad and cutting them up. Kicked up a few brutes along the way we usually never ride down there other than that
