Hey guys. I started bow hunting last year and I was using a friends Diamond Razor Edge. I liked the bow, but it just isn't the one for me. I was wanting to ask you guys on your opinions on some decent bows that $450 would get me. So far I have been looking at a PSE Stinger and a Bear Charge. I've heard mixed reviews about Bear bows. Thanks for the help!

Take a peek at the Mission archery line-up. There are some very nice bows there. ;)

I have a Bear Lights Out, and I really like it. I'm partial of the whole Bear lineup, they just seem to be well made.

I like my Hoyt Powerhawk. They should be around $399-429 bare bow. Like others have said u need to shoot the bows yourself to decide.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm leaning most towards the Bear Charge since I can get a good deal on one on ebay. I haven't been able to shoot one, but it feels nice in my hands compared to other bows I looked at. Any thoughts on this bow?

My thought is that you NEED to shoot one before you buy it. If you had one in your hands, why didn't you shoot it? Not trying to be rude but I am trying to help you get the best bow for you which no one on here is going to be able to tell you which one that is.

Do you test drive a car before you buy it? Good luck!

If you do shoot, shoot as many as you can so that u get the feel of how each one shoots/reacts. There is quite a difference.

I'd be looking for a used bow. In your price range you should be able to get a high end bow that is 1-2 years old with accessories on it. Some guys are turning over new bows every year to get the latest and greatest which leaves a strong market for lightly used gear at a good price. Check out the classified section on here as an example.

I agree with Brad, shoot the bow before buying. Only you know what feels good in your hand.

For ready to shoot kits - Bear has some great price options out there now and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one for someone I was helping...but as noted - I would "shoot 'em all" first.

I've own nothing by Hoyt compounds...but I feel they are getting a little too proud with some of these new bow prices...but the used lightly used market is a great way to get in a top of the line bow!
