Howdy. I put up a ladder stand this weekend on a very large oak with a split. Great stand, just a small problem that I'm looking to see if anybody has an idea on how to solve. The stand is in the crook of a split and will just reach high enough to set against the straighter crook. The problem is, it's not high enough to be able to sit back once the stand is on the tree..giving me a pretty sore back when I sit all day. Does anybody have an idea of what I can use to put behind me - or build..to put behind me that would allow me to sit back? There is about a 6 inch gap between my seat and the tree. thanks!

Yeah, that's one option. I was hoping someone had a genius idea of how to put some boards together and viola' ...make a super duper back rest...but I can see by the hoards of people answer my post...probably not going to happen..hahaha! I think nailing a board up though, is probably going to be answer...

How about a board with a stadium seat attached to it? That sounds comfy.

You know, that's not a bad idea MM. strap the stadi seat to the lone wolf seat, put a 1x4 behind the back and strap that to the tree...that might work.

What about a paddling seat or a turkey vest?

that might just work too. I've never heard it called a paddling seat...new one on me. I saw something like that at BP tonight, it was $45 dollars though.

They are made for canoers. $45 isn't too bad, especially for something that you'll be leaning on 20' high in the air. :tu:

And you can use it with your new kayak... you can pick one up for around 500.00... don't forget the paddle... 30.00... oh and you'll need a lifejacket 30.00... and a registration for 20.00 and so on... Then you should be golden.:tu:

I could probably hang the paddle and lifejacket from a tree step, but I'm not sure I would be able to fit the kayak.
