Well my Fuji is starting to show its age and is outdated. Im looking to get a new Digital camera in the next week or so. What is a good camera that has a good zoom and possably does video clips. Im looking to spend around $500-$600 dollars. When I was visiting Heartland Bowhunter years ago they were using the Nikon 40 but I think they have upgraded since. That camera took excellent pics. Recomendations??? Im clueless.

Wife just bought the canon sx30, it has I think 35x zoom and she is absolutely in love with it. Great pics and video, she loves the action shots it takes. We paid like $400 or so for it.

My wife uses a Nikon D40 in her photography business that she does on the side and it takes great pictures.

I have a Nikon D60. It's a nice camera. Pain in the tookus to carry around in the woods tho'. And it's not waterproof or kick-around-the-boat proof.

I have an Olympus stylus that's waterproof and you could probably beat someone to death with it and it would keep on working. It takes okay but not great pictures. It's not much bigger than my blackberry so that's a plus.

I just purchased a Sony A230 from their reconditioned site... $284 delivered, arrives tomorrow will report back what I think. It had decent reviews, and is the first SLR digital that I have purchased. I have only owned Nikon camera's previous to this, not sure why I am taking the Sony track this time...hope it was a smart choice.

Well I ended up getting the Cannon T3. Its on order but should be here any day. They just came out with it and all the stores were sold out. Went to another new store and showed the print best buy had gave me, and they said they would top there price going through them. So for $40.00 less I bought it there and they were already on order.

Its crazy how fast the price and technology of digital cameras changes. Thats the same price I paid for the 350D less than 3 years ago. And I got a deal. The T3 is MUCH better. Have fun!

One piece of advice...learn how to use the camera! I can't tell you how many people buy DSLRs only to shoot in auto mode all the time. They are missing out on all the great things a camera can do. Don't get me wrong, auto can be a very good setting in certain situations, but DSLRs can do so much more.

Hell, most point-and-shoots can do amazing things these days that people miss out on. Explore and have fun.

I just ordered a Nikon D3100 and will be trying to learn the real basics for good pics in Manual Mode. Also purchased a 70-300mm telephoto lens to get close with the wildlife. It's like waiting for christmas.
