Looking for artificats/digging around water

I have some pieces of a local river I want to explore before spring fishing kicks off. Been seeing some YouTube shows where guys find all kinds of stuff near rivers and old living areas near those rivers.

Any of you all artifact hunt? Seems like a good way to combine some things I love...being around water, looking for things, and getting some time out of the house.

 

It seems that the older I get the more time I spend looking for things. Things that I have placed somewhere but can't remember where I put them. Buy the time I find them they will have become artifacts!

 

I am constantly bring old junk home from the woods. The wife looked at me like I'm crazy at first, now she uses alot of it for decoration. This past week when I was tracking that doe I picked up a old glass Pepsi bottle.

I'm always picking up old glass stuff. Also find stone arrow heads once and awhile. I'm a natural collector at heart. But my wife just thinks I'm a pack rat!

This old Appomatox river is full of history. I bet if I studied old historical maps I could zone in on some areas.

 

I got a buddy that is eaten up with searching for artifacts. Unreal with the amount of stuff him and his son find. The problem we have around here is its illegal to metal detect on public lands. I got a couple customers that live in old farm houses from the early 1800,s - late 1700,s. I've pulled some awesome stuff from the walls of there houses over the years. Always want to go back and metal detect there properties.

I watch The Hoover Boys on YouTube a lot. No idea why it interests me so much but it does.

There are some other YTers that find stuff that is even more interesting to me than most of the stuff the Hoover guys do, but the guys running those channels are so annoying they can be hard to watch. Aquachigger being one. He finds really cool stuff but I can't take him.

 

Yeah I really like watching those shows. I've been watching one called Adventure archeology. He seems to have a pretty good system and a lot of these places that I have down here are pretty similar to those places that he hunts for artifacts.
