Good stories fellas. I got one for ya. One time this guy was looking for the ultimate turkey vest, so he sought the advice from some fellow hunters. A debate ensued amongst the hunters. First about vest types, then before long, nobody remembered the original question. Meanwhile, the hunter who asked the question grew tired of waiting, and said, "screw this, I have a house to pay for soon anyways, I don't need a vest this badly." :hijack::nana: LOL.

All in good fun guys... But Rob, in case you missed it, I was wondering if you have had your new BuckLick Creek vest out yet? The only review on BP indicated that they weren't as good as the original (I often take those reviews with a grain of salt, but still).

Crick, I think that is a challenge....roadtrip to PA for turkey season! No DBs allowed. Time to man up and quit killing these petty midwest birds.

I made that comment on his gear as more of a joke than anything. I realize that more than one call is almost a neccesity....but not 5-6 pots, 2 boxes, 25+ diaphrams, 1 tube call, etc....that seems excessive to me, but hey if it's neccesary I guess I'll need to be looking into small camo duffel bags to keep up with the Jones.

A guy that lives and breathes turkey hunting living down the road from me uses a bucklick as well Matt. I've sat in it once, super nice. He has an older one as well though. I didn't know what his was called until I called and asked him this afternoon, bucklick for him as well. I'm to cheap to buy one though, maybe next year....or when my $25 finally wears out.

One thing this thread has spurred me into doing....I am going to buy a few sets of ratcheting pruners tomorrow for my vest/daypack. For bowhunting outside of a DB, these are the cats meow.

I love you guys  LOL!! :lmao: Sorry for the thread Jack :hijack: Rob,, notice i used the word lucky in there :moose: believe me, i have hunted birds long enough and have helped others to see the skidish ones that dont even tolerate an eye blink ;) The bird i killed but wounded first in the HB vid took about two hours to get to come in. His buddy was on edge all morning. He busted me drawing and him and his partner were heading out of dodge :d Well the erant shot was my bad from concentrating on my form and not paying attention to how much ground they had covered  you know the rest. (lesson learned- if you take a turkeys leg out, he is useless and can be killed via second shot :d ) TEmbry, id love a road trip, it would be a great excuss to meet some of our brotherin  But we would have to get used to there funky accent :whip: In a nut shell, id like to hunt with any of you guys :tu: and yes ratchet pruners are golden ;)

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I use the primos gobbler vest, pretty good vest for the money, I only carry 1 maybe 2 slates, and a few strikers. As well as 3 mouth calls. I can drum up a pretty good variety of sounds with my gear!

I started last year (no blind run and gun). The closest I got was 5 yards, and couldn't find a hole through the brush, I'm still learning. :d

I'd like to add, I use a monster fanny, no vest. Along with mega ninja stealth.

We only get 5 days here. A lot of times, you can't just sit around.

i run and gun always. Sometimes with a blind, sometimes without.

    yup. MN sucks for that.

I will be entering my 1st season this year too..lotto permitting.

I'm just going to use my small fanny pack. Same one i use bow hunting.

Can someone tell me if I can use a tree stand in MN? can't find that anywhere.

And why dont people use ghillie suits? every video I have watched so far, has been normal camo. Is it a sponsor issue?

Not legal, and of no use.

I don't use a ghillie suite because I wouldn't be able to draw my bow (I don't think).

I do it and its a ton of fun! I personally just can't sit there waiting for a bird! I also found that it's a lot easier using my Longbow than my Compound!
