$400 of any Daniel Defense complete rifle at Primary Arms for their Memorial day sale. Coupon code: DDEF
I have a few times. I guess I just don't care for magnified shooting. I am not a long distance plinker. I like to light stuff up and for me I am better able to do that with a red dot. I have a basically brand new Nikon P223 3X scope with Nikon P series rings I'd let go for $130 shipped if anyone is interested. The top one had an EOtech on it but a friend talked me into selling it to him. Probably going to put an Aimpoint T1 on it.
I will probably use it to take out some yotes and groundhogs but I will want to light stuff up when I'm out shooting with my buddies which is why if want the red dot as well. Sent from my iPhone
Ha I was just getting ready to put this on here. If your not interesting in the rifles you outta still check out what Primary Arms has. They usually have good prices and a good site to order from. I bought pmags during the big ban scare and still got them within a week or ten days, think it was quicker but can't remembet for sure. Plus everything I have for mine came from online so its hard to keep track ha
I had posted photos in the past when I had optics up top and a red dot on a 45 but I deleted the pics out of photobucket a while ago, so I no longer have them.
My 18" build has a Vortex Strikefire and Magpul sights on it. There is also a laser and flashlight on it for ****s and giggles but I doubt I will leave it on for long. The top gun is my 16" gun with a Vortex Sparc and Magpul Sights. It is the all around plinking gun and one I shoot the most. The bottom is a 20" setup with a Primary Arms 1-6x scope with lighted recticle. It is a pretty slick scope but not a dead on accurate scope for shooting 200 yards plus. I also have a Burris C-4 3-9x40 that has two calibration knobs that set elevation settings for 100,200,300,400,500 and 600 yards for 55gr (XM193) and 62gr. (M855) ammo. The lower gun also has 45 degree iron sights on it that I have played with but not the biggest fan of.
Those are pretty sweet. How do you like the strike fire sight? Also another question I had was how do you go about picking ammo? I noticed you said you shot 55gr and 62gr whats the benefit of lighter or heavier weights?
The Strikefire is a decent sight for the money. Primary arms also has some red dots that are cheaper that have got decent reviews, I think Buckeye had one of them at one point. I built the 18" and 20" guns to push heavier loads. The M855 ammo typically shoots and is most effective with 20" barrels, the 18" barrel also shoots it well but I intend in getting some heaver 77gr. ammo to play with for it. The 16" plinker shoots the 55gr. stuff well but I haven't shot anything heavier out of it. There were a lot of reports of issues with the 62gr. from the military when shot out of shorter barreled guns and it was originally designed for the M-16. 55gr. will usually be the most cost effective to shoot and readily available plus there are a lot of scopes out there now that are calibrated for 55gr. ammo.
IMHO. One of my picks for best out of the box AR is a M6-IC-SPR by LWRC by LWRC International, LLC. You will pay a premium for their rifles though! Best part is you won't want to spend any extra money swapping parts out! I am a left so a ambi AR platform out of the box is stellar!
Aim surplus has a pretty good deal in a spikes tactical 16" mid length that has free shipping and 5 free mags (get 6 total) http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1STR5035MLS
Kinda surprised all the recommendations for Rock River Arms. You can get a better rifle for less. Rock River uses jake commercial spec buffer assemblies and stock. The vast majority of their barrels hardly have been contoured at all. The only time this is good is if SHTF and you ran out of ammo and had to club someone with your rifle. If I was shopping and sticking in the 1K area, I'd go with a Mil-spec Spikes over a RRA or the S&W mentioned earlier. Or better yet, for that price I'd buy a Daniel Defense at Primary Arms with the $400 off discount code I posted earlier.
Thanks for the input buckeye. I can get a pretty good price on any of the S&W so i may go that route.
I know a lot of people who shoot matches. They prefer the RRAs over most other complete rifles. The ones I've shoot were tack drivers with excellent triggers (for the price). The S&W I shot was nothing special at all. YMMV. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Im not very picky since this would be my first gun. You on the other hand probably have them out the wazoo lol so you are probably more critical and or picky about what you're shooting. :p
