I love my Hoyt, but those simms string shox SUCK. They deaden the noise well, but they don't last very long. Anyway, I'm looking for a new string silencer. Cat whiskers are out. While they do quiet the shot, they also slow my arrow down too much.

I'm open to suggestions, but am looking at the Ultra Bow Jack. Now, it appears in reading, that these are secured to the string with a......ZIP TIE?? Is that right? Anybody use these rascals? How are they for quieting the string, what is their impact on arrow speed, and how is the durability and ease of installation?

Is this the same guy who last week was going with heavy slow arrows?

Use the cat wiskers, but just trim em up short and don't use so many. They can't slow it down that much. They will last forever. The rest of those string silencers rip apart in no time.

And where am I meeting you guys on Sunday?????

I still use the cat whiskers like jmbuck said, trimmed down to about an inch and not as many.
The string will wear out befor they do,and about half the cost of the new fancy ones.

I'd suggest the Sims Crossbow sting leeches.

LOL. yeah, seems kind of...contradicting, huh? They will slow it down too much, I'm afraid. I've got the old single pin sight sighted in dead accurate, and messing with the speed will affect that.

I guess I could tie one on and trim it down until the speed comes back up where it was......

I love the bowjax things. They have ones that zip tie & ones you serve in. I've tried the zip tie ones and they are awesome nad very durable. I have some of the ones that serve in on order. As far as speed loss, I haven't put it on the chrono, but there is no visible loss.

I put one of mean v's noise suppressors on & got rid of the string silencers altogether. that may be a thought for your bow.

Me too, but when I DID use string silencers, the best I found were the crossbow ones.

But I'd rather not have any on my string and use the MeanV.

I haven't used string silencers for awhile now with my STS installed. I don't use them for target shooting in the summer and my bow isn't all that loud but I think for the season I'll reinstall them. I have had good luck with the sims crossbow as they last a lot longer.

I have used the leaches in the past and my bow was noticeably quieter. I have the new DXT and I tried to make it a bit more quiet and it does not seem to make much of a difference. I think it's a trail and error deal looking for what works best. Most likely I will take them back out.
