So me and the wife are house shopping since we both now have jobs in the same place and are an hour from it. We found a house that has been unoccupied for a couple years at least that looks awesome in the pictures has about 7 acres half timber that borders a big public ground. It’s out in the boonies where it would be difficult for anyone who was not working at the shop we are to buy it so it’s a great price. We have a appointment next Sunday to look at! Please let it be in good shape and let me convince the wife it’s a can’t miss opportunity lol

Be aware if it's been unheated!
    Good luck.

    Exactly what ^^ he said.

Found an awesome house like that a few years back...all the water lines bursted over winter. What a disappointment!

But, fingers crossed it's been taken care of! Good luck!

Unoccupied houses die amazingly fast. I would check the basement for water damage, I would check every room and every closet for signs of mold. Check the roof and up in the attic. Check all the plumbing, if it wasn't winterized you could have some major issues. Look to see if any critters have found a way in.

Just be sure you know what you are buying before you commit to it. There can be a lot of things you don't notice in a walk through that can add up to big bucks(the green kind) down the road.

Best of luck to ya! Don't be afraid to recognize any flaws and potentially underestimate anything that could be significant. If it's been unoccupied for a while, there could be some critter damage. Just weigh the pro's and con's and make your decision from there.

I appreciate all the input folks! It actually looks like someone else just bought it so I may not have to make the decision. Says Active-Contingent and no longer shows on the map. O well may have been a blessing and I’ll still get to hunt the public regardless.
