Honestly I can careless about having excellent quality pictures, I am not putting cams out for a photo contest. Photo quality to me takes a back seat to reliability, battery life and general performance( picture taken in the viewing field ect ect) . The picture have to be good enough to recognize and judge the deer and that's about it.....I don't have time to be calling for warrantee work, and even worse finding I wasted my time in field with a non functioning camera. So far I have only found one brand of cameras that I felt where reliable enough over a long period of time. I would love to see some other companies break the mold in the reliability department ...
This x 1,000,000. I couldn't care less about having magazine quality pictures. I just want the thing to work and be reliable. I need the pictures to be good enough to see what I'm hunting. If the Exodus cameras can do that then the 5 year warranty and 50% theft replacement is a bonus and just what many are likely looking for.
Yup, Pictures are subjective... I think I deleted most if not all. I will see what I have and post them.
That photo looks a little washed out. Unlike some of the others who have posted in this subject, picture quality is very important to me. That's why I am into the homebrews. But I am always looking for commercial cams that will take magazine cover type pics. I too have high hopes for this new company, so hopefully they get the bugs worked out. Blessings..........Pastorjim
See that picture wouldn't bother me at all if the functioned 100% for a long period of time without issues. To me it's just a tool that gives me more time to accomplish my goals. I have no problem paying for the most reliable tools I can get my hands on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If someone doesn't care about picture quality why spend around $250 on a camera? There are plenty of cheap cameras that do not take good pics.
Because those cheap cameras also come with reliability flaws too often. But for 250 you should be getting both Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
250 is way cheaper than what I pay now for a reliable Camera, and in the past I have spent almost that much on several of other cams that did nothing but give me headaches too often. I hate to say it but I am letting others being the Guinea pigs until soothing comes along with a good track record of reliability. And unit then I will stick with my Reconyx .
Another pull. Keep in mind this is in back of the house so I don't get a lot of day time pics. For what ever reason this set seem to be a lot better. Is there a break in period? :p I am starting to like what I see... I'll get two more cameras out when we close on the new land. Last Pic adjusted in Photoshop. 07/13/2015 0 IMAGES (START) 96% 07/20/15 393 IMAGES 56% 07/24/15 915 IMAGES 46% TOTAL IMAGES = 1308
From what I can tell at this point it really isn't a issue with battery life as it is a matter of reporting the correct battery life. EG: A new set of batteries didn't read full capacity. The battery dropped 40 % in the first 300 or so pics and then only dropped another 10% with the next 900+ pics. I believe the display is also better in direct sun light then alot of other cams I have used. Menu navigation is probably one of the best. Exodus does recognize the white balance is off. They claim its because the bulk of their testing was done during the winter months. They state a simple firmware update will correct it. Also noted that their sample pics are "wide format 16:9 and mine is more of a traditional camera aspect ratio (4:3). Apparently for what ever reason when you set the camera to 12 MP this crops off the edges produces a narrow / tall image. I actually like being able to choose and view it as a feature. I will begin playing with other features after the next soak. Digital zoom, video/audio, and time lapse, etc. Operating hours are also of interesting to me. During the summer months as it heats up throughout the morning the wind usually starts to blow at a pretty good clip. This typically means you have a bunch of pics throughout the day of absolutely nothing because everything is moving. I'd probably just a soon disable the camera from 11 AM until 6 PM every day during the summer months.
So I assume the contacted you? If so how long before you revived a call back after you original message?
I didn't get a call back. They responded to a user "review" at Chasingame.com. Within that thread they talk about the white balance issue and the difference in aspect ration between mega pixel settings. As a full disclosure I have not made a follow up attempt to reach out to them via phone or e-mail. I plan on contacting them next week to discuss the battery display and the temp issue.
