Hopefully by the time you get down here it's not a constant rain. Best of luck to you this weekend.

Ok, here's a question. What is the fastest way to Mount Sterling if I'm driving from WI past Rockford? My GPS has me take a bunch of small highways and it seems like I zig zag all over.

Take 39/51 south to Bloomington. Head onto I-55. You can then head down to Springfield and do the snakey road thing back up to Mt Sterling...... Or if you're like me, you can take rt 136 (turn at Mclean) take that over to rt 24 which goes right into Mt Sterling. No back tracking that way.

It's still twisty but more direct.

Thanks Christine! I'd rather stick to major roads most of the way down when pulling this beast.

Well, you know there are no 'major' roads in that section of IL. ;)

You'll spend less time on 'back roads' if you go past Springfield and take 72 over and then go up through Meredosia.

136 and 24 aren't bad at all but there are a couple of turns where you'd have to watch out with your trailer but nothing a competent driver can't handle. (you should see the stuff I pull an 8.5' wide pontoon boat through!)

Your only real challenge will be the combines on the road but with all this rain, they probably won't be out for a couple of days.

Yeah, there really is no easy way to get down there. It's not really that big of a deal pulling the trailer around, I've got enough experience doing it.

    Thanks again Christine!

We'll be in Brown/Pike counties. Never hunted anywhere in IL except here.....last year was my first year and this year will definitely not be my last!

Ahh cool I live and hunt right on the Menard/Cass border so when you're hunting Brown county you guys are only a county away!
