So.. I suck and shot a buck too far back today.

While out in the woods, I see antlers sticking up. It's obvious it's not my buck. (too big and in the wrong area)

We can't tell what happened to it but a guy on the neighboring property may have shot it during shotgun season. I think he's going to claim it either way. I have no interest in the rack.... 'cept I sure would have liked to have had a shot at him. (tho' I probably would have screwed that up too.)

Deb is holding the deer. He was a pretty decent buck.

Sadly the search for my buck continues. We're pretty sure he's in the river.

Good luck finding your deer. That's a huge buck you found. If the antlers done mean anything to you, you can cut them off and use them as rattling antlers, or mail them to me to use. Haha

It was a real bummer to not be able to recover Christines buck... she went above and beyond the lengths that some hunters would go to to try and retrieve him from the river.. Hopefully the river level will drop and we can get back in the river and try and locate him ... but of course they are calling for more rain :(
This is Christine and K lauching the canoe in the channel that feeds into the river to try and find her buck.

And here are some more pic's of the buck we found dead... what a waste :( .. He was much nicer looking when he was alive... he came by my stand a few weeks earlier when I was trying to film but the camera battery died and I didnt get any footage of him :(
He actually still had some dried velvet on his rack that he never rubbed off.
Guesstimate by his teeth that he was 6.5 years old.

I gotta give props to Christine for finding out who had hit it and giving the rack back to him. 99.9% of the people out there probably wouldn't have done the same and kept the rack themselves. You, Deb and your group are some of the classiest hunters I know.

Sorry about the loss deer, Christine. We all know it happens, but it still sucks.

Heck of a deer you found. Hope the guy that claims it, was in fact the one who shot it. If he was, I'm sure he's happy to have closure. Good on you.

Sorry to hear about the lost deer. It happens. Hopefully you can get an eye on him in the river. Great find on the other buck.

Hey Christine sorry to hear that about your buck. But for what its worth i think you should keep the rack you found. If the neighbor didnt give up tracking he might have found him. Now he is part of your story and a well deserved trophy.

    Christine,

DO NOT go into the water-ever! With that much blood and no sighting of your deer, there's only one possible explantation! Your deer was consumed! Unmistakably, this is the handy work of red bellied piranhas! This might also explain the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. Tough luck kiddo, but you've done your best. Again stay out of the water!

I wouldn't want the buck either. I would want the man who shot him to have the remains....

That sucks that your buck went into the river... Was there any evidence of a shot on the other buck?
