I practice out to 60. I would not take a shot over 40 though. Longest shot I have taken was like 35 yards

52 yards on my first deer, a buck. Found him the next morning about 50 yards away.

My longest shot was on a real decent 8 at 60 yds. Was hunting a trail that went around an white oak island. It was the perfect situation, only reason why i took the shot.

36 yards was the farthest I've shot. Practice out to 50 yards but would have to be perfect to swing that far.

I've been bow hunting for 28 years this year. My 1st 9 years were with a compound and the last 19 years have been with a recurve. I like to keep my shots close no matter the type of bow. Bow hunting to me is up and close hunting no matter the speed of the bow. I too practice out a ways to 40+ yards but that's more for making sure my form and set up are in tip top shape.

    Compound- 17 yards
    Recurve- 22 yards

42 yds, would take 50 if conditions were right.

Longest kill shot: 32 yards. Double lung and the deer was down within 60 yards.
Longest attempted shot: 46 yards after I stepped it off. This was way before rangefinders. I guessed 40 yards and shot right under him.
Longest shot I would attempt: 40 yards. Maybe 45 under the right conditions.
Practice Distance: Up to 60 yards.
Average kill shot distance: Of all the deer I can remember taking....about 17 yards.

Futherest ive ever shot at a deer was 40 yds. I guess you can say it was a successfully placed arrow.[IMG]
