Killed a small buck at 50 yds and another time a doe at 50. Watched both of them feeding for several minutes. back in that day I was pretty good at estimating yardage.

Another time I hit a doe that jumped the string at 19yds. Watched her lay down. After a while she got up and slowly walked away into some thick stuff. When she came out the other side, I put another arrow thru her lungs at 50 yds.

12 yards is farthest out of 8 kills. Practice out to 80 yards. Would like to have them within 25 yards and that is what I hope for.

Longer shots make me worry about a deer moving naturally or jumping the string. I would take a 30-50 yard shot on a big buck with good conditions.

53 yards, I practice at 75 and 100 all the time so it wasn't a big deal

Im guessing 25 yards is the farthest i've killed a deer with a bow at. I would never shoot over 40 yards.

    the year 2000,

84 paces, buck paused while chasing a doe, double lung. he took two steps looked at the doe and fell over. I did that instinctive (no sights) with a 85 pound clear water wheel bow, 2413 xx78 Easton aluminum arrows 125 grain thunderhead broad heads. Remember it like it was yesterday. That was back when I was 18 lived at home and shot my bow everyday, best set up I ever have had. I think it was mostly from all the practice.

    67. She ducked a little quartered away. Neck shot. Dropped. Died in ten seconds. I practice to 125 but to be honest a lot can happen at that range. More than a bad shot I feel it can give deer more time to hear the arrow and duck. I've been ducked a lot. I'll still take a shot at a deer up to 80 no hesitation only if I'm sure I can't get closer.
Last year I posted about an acquaintance of mine that shot a nice 4x3 out of the A zone at 160 yards. I was ridiculed. Either way it happened. He made a clean shot at 160. Not something I'm comfortable with but he was. And good for him.
Take shots that you are comfortable with! That's the jam.

52 yards. I've shot a lot of deer and only three have been past 25 yards. I've also passed a LOT of shots at deer between 30-60 yards just because I wasn't comfortable including two bucks that both would have been my biggest.

The one I shot at 52 was in an alfalfa field head down eating and completely unaware of me. I pinwheeled her and she maybe went 50 yards.

Killed my mule deer at 61 yards last year. It ran maybe 30 yards and tipped over. I had enough time to range and shoot. They never even knew I was there.

Around 60 quartering away. Arrow went across chest and slit it open. Terrible shot but I was a noob and it was late season. I recovered the buck but I wouldn't take that shot again. Ever since they've been under 25 yards.

Shot a doe at 42 yards a few years back, was a good shot and short recovery. Would take maybe 50 yard shot if everything was correct and deer was calm.

I've only killed three with my bow, but 13 yards is the farthest. Had a chance at a 27 ytd shot but I had just shot a doe and didn't want two deer to track
