This is my first time posting, I hope I did it right. My question is about longer traction belts for Lone Wolf stands. I bought a hand climber – by the way it’s just my luck that I saved up my money for a year, sold things etc., to be able to afford the price of the LW. Then the disappointment of “Made in China” on the box when it arrived, only to find out now they are again making them here in the US. Timing is everything I guess. Anyway back to the belts. LW tells me they won’t provide belts longer than the XL (61”) they sell as an accessory. I live in the great Pacific Northwest. We have BIG trees here I wanted belts as long as 85”. Here is my question- has anyone discovered a replacement belt that is compatable? I checked with my local industrial supply that sells power transmission products like v-belts for fan units, but they didn’t recognize the profile of the belt. Any ideas?

Just my opinion but anything that large and I would not be comfortable climbing a tree. I don't believe there is a climbing stand made for trees that big.

+1, the mechanical design of the stands is to "fulcrum" you to the tree, get too long of a belt, and you lose a bit of that fulcrum, and create a situation where you could have a bit of a "rapid descent!!!" I think you need to pick your trees better, or you need to consider other options.

These guys are correct... the reason they don't make bigger belts is because the "biters" or "teeth" on your stand can't grab on well enough (to giant trees) to allow you to climb safely. I'd suggest several tree steps and a Lone Wolf hang-on stand.

Well, thanks guys for your opinions. Looks like I may have purchased the wrong type of stand.
