My father has been by my side for 36 years now in the deer woods……I don’t know hunting without him and don’t know if I would have ever even tried it if he wasn’t my dad. Didn’t even know where he was going but sure knew I wanted to go with him. All these years later and big bucks along the way for all his boys he never shot a GOOD buck……..not positive he ever even saw one. Years ago my brothers and I all secured a cabin with 350 acres in pretty much the best land you can hope for in NY. We built him heated shooting houses and have done everything in our power to extend his time with us in the woods. He is winding down and the clock was ticking even with the cushy new setup. He has mentioned hanging it up more than a few times. Well the last 2 years he killed decent bucks. His best and nice for sure but still not BIG by any stretch. He even saw a couple monsters so he was excited to say the least and it was super cool to see that fire burn again. This year he got one…….from an elevated blind we put up last year in a gusty rain storm and almost killed ourselves LOL. Whatever part my brothers and I played in making this happen for him is a drop in the bucket compared to what he’s given us this lifetime. Congrats dad Don’t hang it up just yet
Great to hear family stories. Congrats to your dad! Was wondering how you were doing cause we haven’t heard how your season was going over on the team thread.
Great story and kudos to you and your brothers for doing everything you've done to give back to your dad. Congrats to him!! He's not done hunting yet! Keep hunting, big guy!

It's wonderful to hear about the bond and memories you've shared with your father in the deer woods. It sounds like hunting has been a special activity that has brought you closer together and provided a way for you to spend quality time in nature. It's also heartwarming to hear about the efforts you and your brothers have made to support your father's passion for hunting, from securing a cabin to building heated shooting houses and an elevated blind. Your father is fortunate to have such loving and supportive sons. It's understandable that your father may be thinking about hanging up his hunting gear as he winds down, but it's also great to hear that he had some successful hunts in the last few years and saw some big bucks. It sounds like those experiences reignited his passion for the sport and brought back that fire. Your father's contributions to your life and your shared experiences in the deer woods are truly priceless. It's clear that you have a deep respect and admiration for him, and that's a wonderful thing to see. Cherish the memories you've made together and continue to enjoy the time you have left in the woods.
