I purchased a used sit and climb 2 yrs. ago from a guy at work. He said it was 3-4 yrs. old. My question is how often should you replace the climbing strap on them? There is no cracking or evidence of ware on them.

I've been using my LW S&C for around 14 years. I put the XL straps on when I got it and haven't had to change them yet. You do have to inspect the straps periodically to be safe, just to make sure there's no cracks/cuts.

Yes, they are worth having. The XL belts allow you to hook up to much bigger trees, which also makes you harder to spot. They are permanent on my LW. If you're dealing with small diameter trees the regular (provided) traction belts are alright.

I think LW recommends changing them every 5 yrs.
