Hey guys. I'm looking to buy a new portable tree stand before next season. I've seen a lot of hype on the Lone Wolf Stands. They seem to be solid and superior but I have not got to look at one close up to examine it. Does anyone have one or no someone to give me some advice. I mean 250 bucks is a lot to dish out for a tree stand, however if its really as good as the hype, I can't see why I wouldn't buy one. Any advice would be appreciated.

What makes a Lone Wolf superior to other portables say the Gorilla ones?

Spend the extra money for a LW, you won't regret it! They have a solid platform (not tubular), they are SUPER QUIET, and very secure. Built in bow holder on the platform. I'll never use anything else. :tu:

Never hunted from one, but I've heard good reviews. I personnaly use Summit climbers. Make to use a good safety harness.

I've had my Alpha hang on for about 3 years now. I did allot of research, for me it came down to a Chippewa or a Lone Wolf Stand. The Chippewa had too many parts to it. The Lone wolf packs all together, in one nice neat package. It's easy to get the climbing sticks on the tree. You don't have any chains clinking together. I liked the thought of the offset bracket, also the ez hang hook
system. Also being able to level your platform in case the tree wasn't straight, plus leveling the seat as well. For me personally the ez hang hook is all I have ever used, it makes hanging the stand so simple. The foot rests, makes this stand super comfortable. The bow grommet and the gun grommet have come in real handy. The design of this stand, was well thought out. It's
quiet it's lightweight. I still Love this stand. One last note, anyone that I have ever let hunt out of this stand, now owns one
themselves. Yes, it was expensive, close to $400 dollars , but worth every penny of it !

I like the Lone Wolf stands as well. They are lighter than other stands and when you are walking in a ways carrying everything you need to hang a stand you will be glad you bought it the very first time you hang it. It is also made better and is alot less noisy than some of the less expensive stands I have bought over the years.

There's quite a few differences that can be talked about, but not truly appreciated until you've used both stands. If you've used standard steel hang-ons like those from Gorilla, River's Edge, Big Game, etc and then you use a Lone Wolf you'll see what people are talking about.

For starters, the Lone Wolf isn't just quiet, it's silent. The one piece cast aluminum platform doesn't crack, creak, pop or make any noise whatsoever. Unlike the steel grating on most stands that will flex and make noise over time, that won't happen with a Lone Wolf.

Next, they're light weight. The Alpha hang-on is lighter than most steel stands with platforms that are much smaller in size. Once again, the cast aluminum construction is to thank for that. If you're looking for something that's portable and easy to pack in and out of the woods, Lone Wolf is the way to go.

Adjustability and versatility are also big pluses. The offset bracket, platform leveling and seat adjustment allow you to put the stand in just about any tree (within reason) and be comfortable. Most other run of the mill hang-ons don't offer any sort of adjustability at all so you need a perfectly straight tree in order to get the thing positioned well enough to not be fidgety and hating life after an hour in the stand.

The ease of hanging a Lone Wolf using the Versa Button system is something that most people don't talk about. I still own and hunt out of some Gorilla stands and every time I have to hang one I curse the strap up and down, and threaten to melt it down into something useful like a book end or paper weight. The Versa Button and cam strap system is awesome and very easy to use.

If you purchase a set of LW climbing sticks with the stand there's a bunch of advantages there as well. The sticks are just as easy to hang, pack together tightly and pack onto the stand for ease of transport. You won't find a better system for using a set of climbing sticks and hang-on stand than a Lone Wolf. Period.

I could list 10 more things that make Lone Wolf the best hang-on out there, but the proof is in the pudding. Do yourself a favor and get one, and I can promise you'll never be happy hunting out of another hang-on stand again.

I have the lone wolf alpha, and it is a good stand. Very quiet and lightweight. Overall a good stand. I do have to say that I have strayed a bit to the Millenium M100. The M100 is much more comfortable and very well set up. You can't go wrong with the lone wolf, but if you plan to sit for a long period of time the M100 is incredible. Very big platform and quiet.

I have a LW Assault 2. I just bought it this year, and I love it. I just wish I would have bought the Alpha 2 just cause the base is a little wider closer to the tree so my boots can fit better in it. I would never trade it for any other manufacturer of stand just cause I have tried others and they are not nearly as stable as the LW. The amount of contact between the base and the tree is unreal and solid as a rock(or a FORD). Well worth the money and even though I haven't had mine long, I don't plan on replacing it just from hearing how long these other guys have had there's.

Same as another poster I was looking between the LW and Chippewa. Settled on the alpha - and could not be happier. I have sat in about ten different stands (not hanging them all myself - but I also have a gorilla HO). The gorilla is OK but the LW is so rock solid I told a buddy (6'2" 250+) that he could use my LW and jump up and down as hard as he wanted and i am positive there would be no movment of the stand what so ever. I would never tell him he could do that in my gorilla or any of the other stands I have tried. Lightweight - easy to setup - quiet and most inportant solid as a rock. You can't go wrong with spending the money on a LW.
