I haven't used either but I've been debating which ones to buy. The ladder sticks must be assembled and the walked up the tree. So you really can't do that unless there are no branches/limbs in the way. You need a straight line of clearance for 16 ft of sticks. They can not be used separately. They must all go up together. I was considering buying them and then drilling a hole and mounting a bracket so that I could put them up in 2 8 ft sections. The standard climbing sticks are more versitile. You can space them more to climb higher and they can go to the side of branches. The whole point of useing them is in conjunction with a hang on. In this case I pick trees with alot of cover. Otherwise you might as well use a climber. I've gathered this info from LW and reviews and I'm still undecided like you.
Just spoke to LW and I was mistaken. It is possible to assemble 2 8 foot lengths and attatch one and then walk the second section up. Ultimately they will have to be in a straight line.
I dont see any reason to get the ladder sticks. They do the same job but require more effort putting them together. The extra distance between my sticks is just more distance I am able to get up the tree. I would go climbing! Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Personally i prefer tree steps because they are so small that it doesn't cause deer to think somethings out of the ordinary. I've had multiple deer walk within 2 yards of them and not even look at them.
