Im pretty committed to buying the Lone Wolf Alpha Hang-On 2 as of right now. But before i do i just had a few questions. Is it really that much easier to hang up than your normal $50 tree stand? Is it really that queit everyone claims it to be? Also what accessories can i get for it such as holding my bow on the platform? The reason why im asking all these questions is because I am going to be hunting alot of state land about 45 mins from where I live in December. I do have a climber that was like $80 but let me tell you that this thing is beyond loud and im sure the other county can hear me when climbing the tree . Also the spot im gonna be hunting is about a 3 mile hike from where i can park so i want something lite. Is there any suggestions or tips anyone could give to hanging this stand to? Because my other hang ons im just tying a rope to them and throwing the rope over a branch and pulling it up as i climb (a little difficult when im in the woods and hour half before light).

Sorry for the book but i just want to be 100% when spending this kind of money!

I bought my first Lone Wolf this year and its been a semi-permanent stand for me this year. I went with the Alpha for the extra room but I think its slightly heavier than the Assault, so you may want to stick with smaller if you are walking 3 miles. I don't have much experience with the run and gun style that they advertise. I will only be moving it for the 3rd time on Monday when I bring it to a new property I just got. If you're prepared to spend that kind of money, and you will be hunting public land I might consider an upgraded climber. Something like a Summit Viper which I can guarantee is lighter than your current $80 climber and will be easier to get up and down with (initially). If you are set on Lone Wolf, then one of their climbers might be better than a hang-on. Definitely worth spending the money.

Thanks for the info! Yeah i think im gonna stay away from the climbers just because the trees where ill be hunting are full of branches and also december there isnt to much cover so i can use all the branches i can get!

They are easy to setup. One thing I would recommend is an easy hang strap from Lone Wolf. The other thing would be a linemans belt to strap to your safety harness. Works way better to hang the straps with a linemans belt keeping you near the tree and freeing up both hands. The other thing would be a bow holder that screws into the tree. The built-in bow holder on the Lone Wolf's platform is very unsteady in my experiences. Besides that a Big Game retractable rope hoist helps out as well.

I just received my Lone Wolf Alpha as an early x-mas gift to use during deer season this season, I can't wait to try this out, I have yet to have it all strapped to my back yet, but the I can't say anything about 3 miles, mine is quite a significantly shorter distance, but the bonus is that in the LW I can shoot from a seated position if I want, where as in my Summit Viper, I have to stand up to be able to shoot, but the Vipers are VERY comfortable, and pretty quiet, and easy to use too, I don't think you can really go wrong in either scenario, I think it just depends on what you have a preference for brother, good luck!!

Yeah i think im going to order mine this week. Im really looking forward to the weight of it because honestly the walk is not short what so ever. I really enjoy hunting that spot on the state land because no one else knows about it nor goes that far back to hunt!

I have both a LW climber and hang on. one thing you might want to think about is a extra stick to get you up as high as you want. some people use 5 but im happy with just 4. Ive only practiced out of the hang on but i would practice setting it up and it was fairly easy even my first couple times doing it. Im sure you will love the stand. i know i love mine im ready for any type of tree now.

im just going with the cheap sticks that are $50 dollars at ****s sporting goods and they go up to 20 feet. I dont see the need to spend all that money on some sticks that only go up to 16 feet.

The sticks by LW are the best part of the package IMO.

Lone Wolf is the best investment in hunting equipment you will make.... Well, except for a Wicked saw:)... Worth their weight in gold. I still use my first LW that is 16 years old; and it's still dead silent!

Yup. Your setup won't be worth a damn with out the speed and ease of the LW sticks.

I just cant justify paying that kind of money for there sticks. The price is just insane if you ask me for some sticks. Maybe some day ill try there sticks but as of right now i cant dish out that kinda cash on some climbing sticks.

I was exact same as you before I got them. Once you get them you'll see why they cost that much.

I can also say that I'm still using my LW stands for over 13 years now. For long hikes, I prefer the climber. I know your trees are full of branches but, if you are not leaving it in the woods each time, it's going to get old fast. That's with any stand of course. I find that with 4 steps the hang-on is still a bit heavy for my liking.
