Would it be better to use the holder that is built into the stand vs buying one to install into the tree?

I use the one in the stand but it's not as simple as it looks for the bows I have used, my bows lean forward quite a but but I love having it in front of me. I would say set it up in the back yard a foot off the ground and see if you like it before you buy a hook for the tree

I didn't like the built in bow hook on the lone wolf stands. But that is just my opinion; I liked the screw in bow holders more because of it getting the bow out of the way and that i didn't have to worry about it falling off this bow hook.
The built in bow hook worked in holding my bow, but i had to take the quiver off. (Which i do anyways but I know some people leave the quiver on while hunting.) The built in bow hook was also very sketchy to me because if i shifted my weight or moved just the slightest, the bow would rock back and forth just the tiniest bit. This normally made me panic because of me being paranoid that my bow was going to fall out of the stand and fall to the ground.
Normally, no a days, I don't use either. I just hold the bow in my lap. Even on my all day hunts, I will still just hold it.

Mostly, it is what works best for you! The bow hook doesn't work perfect for me but i will still use it time from time.

Also welcome to the site! glad you joined up!

Some great info. When I blind hunt I always hold my bow but have holder present for when nature calls.
