I'm looking to buy a new lone wolf stand and I've never used one before. Has anyone used both the assault and alphatech and which do you prefer?

I haven't used the assault but I do have the Alphatech, the seat is super comfy and the stand is around $200

If I were just to have one stand, I'd go with the Assault. Especially if you live in a colder state. There just isn't a big enough price difference to make me go to the AlphaTech.

I'm in south central IL. It doesn't really start to get cold here until january or February. I ask because I found an alphatech for $140 and assault for $230. The price range is enough to swing me one way. I'm getting away formal my climber to use one stand and climbing sticks for video purposes. Just wondering if the assault is the much better of stand.

That's a great price on the Alphatech, gobble that up! The normal price difference is $40. While I do think the Alpha & Assault are better, I might be grabbing the Alphatech at that price :tu:

Cast aluminum stands are inherently quieter when the temps drop. Not popping, no hollow scratching. I "had" to sell my non LW stands after using my Assault. I hated sitting in them because of their noise. A noisey stand gets more noisey as the temps drop. Especially when you go below 0.

I have an Assault with sticks and a Sit and Climb. I think this covers most situations. I wouldn't use anything other than a LW.

Well here's another question then. What persuaded you to get the assault when the alpha is only another $10?

If you're referring to me, it was a gift.

I think there are a few misunderstandings in this thread. I believe all three LW hangons are being discussed. Assault, Alpha and the Alpha Tech F1.

Anyway I have the Alpha Tech F1 and while its a good stand with a comfy seat, its not in the same class as the Assault or Alpha due to the cast platforms and the Alpha Tech F1 is made in China. For the $125 w/free shipping I coudn't pass it up at the time.
