What in the heck happened in NY? Last week had a brief 2 day period where I saw a little chasing (nothing even really crazy). Then got hit with a couple days of high winds/rains. Bright full moon. Last 6 or 7 days I have seen absolutely NOTHING! It is lifeless in the woods right now. See nothing in fields driving around to and from my land. If that was the rut, that was the shortest lived worst rut action I have ever seen. Baffled.

A bit slow here right now, too. I don't think I've had a buck on camera in the past 4 days (just does, fawns and a lot of a bear), but prior to that had multiple bucks on camera each night and my foodplot smelled like a Tinks 69 factory with scrapes everywhere.

The rut comes in waves. Just on a low right now. It'll pick back up.

Not like the buck takes the doe away for a romantic weekend at a bed and breakfast, they will be chasing again soon.

I would say it is pretty much like that. He is taking her away in isolation for a few days to have his way with her. Sounds like a romantic weekend to me.
