I have a Hoot Owl call and a Crow call. Using what knowledge I do have from being in the woods, I assume a hunter would use a hoot owl call before sunrise and a crow call after sunrise to locate turkey. If I am correct in this assumption, how long after sunrise would be good for using the crow call if the hoot owl call does not work? Am I to understand that turkey fly down off the roost before sunrise? Oh, and btw, I have heard to use the locator calls sparingly. So, I will use these calls very little. Another question is that last year while squirrel hunting last spring, I came across some turkey, actually spooking them of course when I was done hunting for the day. On my way back to my vehicle. What would the chances of those same turkey returning to that same location? Hoping to get a day or so before season starts to go out and scout a bit. Thanks everybody.
You can use the crow call all day long. You may be able to get them to gobble at Owl hoots after they fly down. I like to use a FearNot Game Calls Peacock Screamer: FEARNOT LOCATOR CALLS Works great through out the day. It's really loud!
I just owl call with my voice. Much louder than any commercial made call I've ever heard and if they are in the right mood they'll gobble to it any time of the day.
