I only seen one bird and he was stuck at 200 yards. You can barely see him on the horizon in the pics. I tried calling but he was not interested. We had a really bad T-storm the night before soo all the wild life was slow going in the A.M.. Back at it tomorrow.
Yeah it was a blast. I thought I was addicted last year, but now I am done for. Turkey hunting is a blast in itself, but the fact that its in the spring and gets you out of the house makes it quite addicting.
In the field. Running on about 7 hrs sleep over the last 48 hrs. It's a cold, windy, and a little snowy morning. Worked late dealing with flooding at work. Was a really stressful day yesterday so this will be a good day of relaxing and waiting on a thunderchicken to strut by. Good luck to any one else out chasing a bird today.
I've had hens in and out of the field all morning. Have several in the tree behing me clucking and purring and yelping right now. No gobbling going on at all. Really windy too.
Gobble gobble..... THAWCK!!!! Came in silent out of no where and plowed my decoy. Smoked him and he ran off so I jump out of the blind and chase him thru the woods, he got stuck under a log so I put another one in him to end it. I would guess 1 inch spurs and 10 inch beard
Well back out in the field today. Took last weekend off after tagging a bird last Friday. Hearing some gobbles this morning, thought I had a bird working his way toward me but haven't seen him yet and he has been quiet for the last half hour.
Surrounded by birds this morning just couldn't quite get em within bow range. Seems each Tom had about half a doz hens on his arm, zero interest in my calls or dekes.
