I admitted defeat, the wind just got to be too much. Supposed to have a 5-8mph nw wind tomorrow. Hopefully that's what it does.
Yeah, I quit too. That deer wasn't coming in anymore so I went for a walk. I found probably 10 rubs in my 5 min hike through the trees after leaving my stand. I put my camera back up in a good spot and after leaving my camera I found a massive scrape about 20 yards from where I set it up on a trail leading towards my camera. Hopefully it's the big guy who has been hiding from me.
You talking about that gargantuan you posted a trail cam pic of a good while back? Ever seen him again?
this guy. Still no sightings since. This is the latest potential shooter. Pic was taken 10 yards infront of my stand. I don't think it's the same deer.
Yeah that's the one, I'd hope they are not the same one. Would love to see what that first one looks like now without the velvet, still had some growing to do.
I know, I'm hoping to at least get a clear pic of how he turned out. If not soon than once my season is done I'm going to do some good baiting by a camera to try and lure him in. Good luck /Pa guys. I'd love to see a buck go down on camera.
Nice frosty morning here in Lake County, IL. Hunting the same stand I shot a big doe out of last week. Wind isn't perfect, but it's not terrible for this spot. Hopefully some late morning movement soon.
Finally had a doe come in and smoked her at 19 yards. I'm pretty sure I heard her go down I'm going to sit tight and get her after dark. Hopefully her boyfriend shows up.
Shot two pigs earlier recover tomorrow as one passed through and the other hit opposite shoulder Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Deer are moving this morning. Had 4 does come in at 6:30, milled around for about 10 minutes. Just had 3 more come in about 7:10, fed for about 20 minutes. Videoed them with phone for a few minutes at 6-12yds before they went into the bedding area. Still no bucks, supposed to get in the low 70's all week. Not optimal, but I'll be out here.
I Bumped every deer in the county walkin to the stand this morning. Been slow since day break. One doe and a 100" 8 point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Capture from video. Think it's going to slow down for a bit, usually only 1 or 2 groups move through. Now it's the waiting game.
Things are heating up here in NW Indiana. Shot a nice doe last night and it was right under my stand bleeding out and her boyfriend kicked her up and she ran and blood trail ended at the kankakee river 75 yards from my stand! Gone! Thats #3 that I've lost this year! Really got me down. Going out tomorrow morning to try to redeem myself before gun season in five days. The big boys are out during the day now so its about to get really interesting over the next week.
With the exception of the doe Saturday at 11am who was being chased, all day sits have been pretty fruitless. Think I may try public land until the warm weather breaks by weeks end. Think I missed my vacation by a week. Going to be a heck of a firearm harvest this year. 2 hours left for something to happen, but never been a good evening movement property.
