Set up crosswind of a clearcut thicket where it meets a secondary clearcut regrowth and a hardwoods.

I just got up a tree with about 2 hours of light left. Hopefully I will see some deer and maybe even kill my first ever.

Well I just had a striped skunk come in and I missed it by an inch. I know most people wouldn't shoot at a skunk but I made a goal of shooting every game animal in TN with my bow and he would have been the first off the list. Oh well maybe he'll come back or something else.

Good luck this afternoon. I will be heading out around 4pm CST. It's my last hunt till at least Sunday so I am hopeful to see my first deer of the season.

I'll be out Friday morning for the IL opener. Currently on a last minute scramble to try to get a camera mount for my phone in the tree, be cool to get a kill on video self filmed with two different angles. Don't expect talking though, I'm not an on camera personality.

I'm not sure what's going on. Looks like I am not hunting this morning. Got to the property and the private drive is completely blocked. I'll hopefully find out more in a few hours, talk about a 180 in emotions.

Small 8 so far on opening morning. Two deer came through at 550 but too dark to see.
