So its super windy I rattle hard at first light bout 30 min later I hear what sounds like a deer getting startled so I look and find myself looking at a black nose, white patch and what appears to be one of my shooters. Unless I'm seeing things which I am still debating I think he is bedded 50 yds down wind of me but is barely moving ...hmmm???

What a beautiful morning!! First off, happy veterans day to those who've served!! I'm sitting in the bottom and just noticed a new scrape. Cool, crisp morning, with little wind, I gotta feeling!

I cannot believe the luck. Pretty sure the deer silhouette I seen on way to stand was a big bodied buck that came out about 25 minutes before shooting light.

7:05 I had 3 does come out feeding on acorns about 50yds away. They get nervous and walk off tails in the air. 2 coyotes come out and do a thorough grid search while staying out of range. Used that time to get down and switch ends of the property. Still hunted to this location, heard a dog bark getting closer, could tell it was running after something. I paused and waited as it got near. About 90 yards away a big buck sprints by, followed by 2 does, followed by a dark dog. Couldn't tell if it was domestic, stray or a coydog.

Optimism sunk to say the least.

Think I missed my vacation by a week. Should have taken it last week. Wind direction isn't bad, but the gusting is horrible. Sadly today is the calmest winds of the weekend. Supposed to gust 30-40 Saturday and Sunday. I may be done until shotgun season after today.

That sucks man....well at 9 I noticed something that looked like a deer bedded down, so I break out the bino's to check, and sure as heck, it's a nice 10 pointer! He was 125 yards away in the bottom, I tried using calls on him and he didn't care for it at all. So at 1130, after watching him for 2 1/2 hours, and him only getting up once, I decided to put a stalk on him. The wind was perfect and was even gusting pretty hard, so everytime it pIcked up, I moved, from tree to tree, I get within 60 yds of him and then all of a sudden he gets up, stretches and shakes his head, and walks the opposite way! I believe he is still in the timber though, so we'll see.

Well all the times I swore I wouldn't shoot a doe during the rut I come out to my stand and jump one 10 yds behind it. It circles back around and after CAREFULLY watching for a buck and 40 minutes of her teasing me I smoked her.

Nice. I bumped 3 deer while switching stands then had another doe come out right after hooking my bow up to the lift rope.

I've never seen the wind go 30-40 for 5 days straight like this. I'm shooting anything that offers up a shot, which is probably nothing.

Maybe the best is yet to come, have to go back to work Tuesday. Supposed to rain Monday but that may be the best shot when the winds die down

Seen 4 deer total in the fields on the drive back to town. Separate fields, one normally has 30-40 deer in it. Tried to get a pic if one of the bucks, he was a brute. Have to check when I get home

Couldn't sit in the lazy boy anymore. Still hunted my way to the stand without bumping anything, but did stalk up on what may be a bobcat? Looked bigger than a country stray and have never seen a bobcat before, and never any type of cat in 5 years on this property.

    Edit, wasn't a bobcat

52 degrees here. I think I over dressed but I know I'll be warm later. Come on deer!
