Right place wrong time...suck it up. OK. He was mocking you too. Christine, I've forgotten, do you have a bull tag this year?
Not a good picture but that's me climbing down the canyon. Steep. The bull was probably 800 miserable feet above us. I have a cow/spike tag in this area. If I went over across the highway to another unit, the tag is good for any elk.... But that stuff is even steeper. We're focusing on an area where we almost aways see elk but next year we're going to concentrate on areas where we can actually get to the elk. :p
Yeah, he probably sleeping in late. Then sitting around drinking coffee and looking at the pretty mountains! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
My grandfather used to tell my father that if he ever shot an elk In an area like that to just grab the frying pan, because that's the only way your getting that elk out of there.
Well last night the big boy stayed below with his cows. I did get a visit from a spike. Came into ten yards and put on a hell of a show for the camera. Danced around barking. Pretty cool.
This morning I had three bulls fired up and came crashing in but at about 80 yds out in the timber they took off with the cows. Screaming the entire way. I went and check the cam we have below the saddle where it sounded like they went last night and this morning and sure enough they were in there feeding for an hour both times. I'll post some trail cam pics when I can. Also have a big Ol bear feeding there. The storms finally passed and the sun just broke out. Heading up to the area where the trail cam is tonight and tomorrow morning. Gonna give the saddle a break and not stink it up. If tomorrow is nice with sun maybe we can finally hunt the wallow. It's been cold and rainy but it seems to have the Bulls getting antsy to I'll deal with it
Lol if that spike was legal he'd be dead. He gave me more than enough opportunity. Nothing ever comes easy for me.
It seems every year we have a spike within 20 yards of us. An they aren't very smart. Just can't shoot em.
