Sounds promising. Good luck! How many more days are you out there? (Hopefully enough to get the task done)
Pedal to the metal buddy!! Last night we found a group of cows and a dandy of a bull!! He sent his cows down first and followed behind. We were setup in the wrong spot and they stayed out of range. We decided to play it safe and let them feed down the saddle and backed out. We took this morning off in fear of getting busted going in early and blowing them out. Spent the morning in camp washing clothes and the like. Gonna check the trail cam on the this afternoon then Head back to the saddle and hope they bedded in the same area last night. Judging by the bugling they stayed right there all night. Gonna slip in and setup on two different trails where they came down out of the dark timber last night to feed. With any luck that should put me inside 30 with good wind to make it happen. Last night he came out right at 1900. The cows a touch earlier. This just might be the night!
Been meeting some really great folks as well. I really couldn't ask for anything more at this point. IMO this hunt has been a success. Anything that happens from here on out is icing on the cake as it has already been more than I could hope for.
We have plenty of time left and do not want to make any mistakes. Hopefully it's only a matter of time now before arrows fly.
Had an elk bugle at us from up on top of the ridge while we were way down in the bottom of the canyon. It sounded just like SSsscrreeeeeeewwwww youuuu.... Jerk elk.
