Sounds good. We still have a lot of windshield time before we get to camp. I just hope I will have some signal there and can post updates.
How did I just find this thread today?..guess I shouldn't just check the Big Game section Great job bringing everyone along...and I'd say you did exceptionally well on this hunt - not sure what else you could have tried - and man, sounds like you had some intense/awesome moments in the mountains! Thanks for sharing - and no doubt your learning curve skyrocketed up on this hunt. Hard to beat Sept chasing Elk...
No doubt!! Hands down one of the most exciting and rewarding hunts I've been on, sad part is now I only can think about elk... lol barely even excited to go sit in a tree this fall .....
Been there - it's Elk 365 now. And I'm finding myself "still hunting" whitetails with pack on much more often...it's just too much fun to cover ground and try to make things happen...
LOL yep, since I've been home the last few days I have already been planning out some ideas to do just that on some larger pieces of public ground near me.
It's been a long drive to get here, but we are stopped in Missoula for the night and just a couple hours from our camp tomorrow. I'm freakin pumped for tomorrow!
Good luck, and keep us updated! -Matt "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" "Eighty percent of success is showing up" "If you want to achieve Excellence, you can get there today. Alright, well I made it back home last night from Idaho. It was such an awesome trip. I really wish I would've had service to do a live update. This was my first experience with an outfitter and it turned out great. I have to admit, I was skeptical of going through an outfitter, but it wasn't some guided zoo shoot. We all worked our a$$e$ off this past week, with my little brother and I covering approximately 40 miles in the mountains. My brothers and I didn't get an elk, but it was all worth it when my dad killed his 1st ever elk. He shot a 5x5 on Tuesday and has been on cloud 9 ever since. I will have to add some pics later on. This was the hardest, funnest, and most rewarding hunt that I've ever been on. Even though I didn't kill anything it doesn't matter, we all had great encounters with multiple bulls and will hopefully be able to go back to north Idaho again in the near future.
