Heard 3 gobbles about 300 yards away and then a gunshot, and I forgot my gloves this morning. Not a good start. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Out today here in Iowa. It has been cool, windy and rainy for about a week. Today is cool, and supposed to get windy as the day goes on. Hoping to get lucky this morning. Got a few birds talking but nothing that sounds super close... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Brother in law was sleeping as a coyote stood 10 feet in front of him. That's all we saw. Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
So my brother in law is turkey hunting down on our property in ky and it's rained 48 hours, when it stops yesterday, he hikes the circuit and nada, Well as he climbs his way out he stops to rest. Then after a bit he rises and makes a turn up the trail, just about 25 yards behind three coyotes walking up the trial ahead that must have pasted by him unoticed . Three shells , but he made the right choice and took out the big Alfa! Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
Farmer says there were turkeys all over in April. Had a hen go through yesterday. Saw and heard nothing today...not even on the drive home. Sent from my SM-G920V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Had a hen come in to 20 yards and then my turkey hunt quickly turned into a coyote hunt as 2 coyotes chased 3 deer about 75 yards away, now I'd rather shoot the coyotes than a turkey. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had one of the most exciting hunts of my life today. I was just sitting over watching a huge field to see if I could see those coyotes again and all the sudden I see a Tom strutting about 250 yards away and then about 10 more turkeys come from behind him. I let them walk down over a hill and I ran to catch up to them and when I got close I let out a couple yelps and about 75 yards away 6-7 of them gobbled. I then crawled closer and peeked up over some brush and there they were 7 of them strutting right in front of me, gobbling there heads off. I was waiting for one of the Toms to get closer but one of the hens must have saw me because she started walking off and I had to take the shot, dropped him at 40 yards. It may only be a Jake but it's my first turkey and a hunt I'll never forget. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It has been an exciting season for my family. I am a firm believer in not all kids being ready to hunt at a minimum age (10 in WI). As a result my son has spent the last 6 months practicing (both shooting and calling) to prove he was ready. Opening morning of the youth hunt we called a tom into a food plot about 100 yards away. The bird spotted a hen on the opposite end of the plot and never closed the distance on our decoy. Once he had regained his composure, we kept calling. After two more turkey sightings, a group of 4 Jake's dropped over the ridge and away from our setup. A few soft clucks caused them to circle back around to investigate our decoy. After telling him to shoot the back one, I watched as he worked through each of the steps we had practiced at the range and he dropped the Jake at 37 yards. The confidence he had gained through all those practice sessions was evident. Lots of my hunts are memorable for one reason or another, but being there for your child's first success is amazing. It was a terrific bonding experience and I couldn't be more of him proud.
I've got one last weekend out here. 5/14 is the end. I've put down 2 nice tom's already and have a chance at my first 3 tom season, all with a bow. I've got a good chance since there are still 2 long beards out here and the wife and kids are out of town the rest of the week. Just gonna be a matter of patience to see who wins. Game on!!!!!!
