The pattern told me. 40 is iffy 35 is dead bird every time.

It just rained and the taller grass is more wet. They would rather walk where they can keep drier. I have seen them walk the all the way around the edge of a wet alfalfa field to get to the other side.

So if its dry they may not hug the pond so much then? Hmmmmm should I leave my blind here or not? If I get too close they could walk behind me which would really suck.

They may, but from my experience they will most likely stay in the shorter grass. Plus, you have a gun. Just poke it through the back window and BLAMO!

After day #1 the score reads Brad 0 and Turkeys 1. I did move the blind closer so let's see what happens tomorrow.

Alright gentleman day 2 is here. The blind is moved to a lethal spot. My view is better today as well. I can watch the mallards play in the pound now. Its windy, sunny and cool today. Its excatly 35 yards to the edge of the pond. [IMG][IMG]

Oh the joys of hunting. I had hens in the field and had to take a dump.... like NOW! so I crawled out in the winterwheat squat and took care of business. They never saw me. Good thing the wind is blowing the other way for my sake. :-)

Son of a beeswax. I had a Tom at 30 yards and shot and he ran off. He laid down in the winterwhest across the field. I can see him stick his neck up every once in awhile. Wtf?
