So my buddy in Headland, AL has 8 acres that he said I can hunt on if I want. Back behind the house where the trees are is a creek and I've seen several deer in there. Time to get some Monster Raxx and a cam and start seeing how things look before the season opens! Yup it's a tiny area but nobody hunts the land behind it and I'm the only one getting to setup on his property!

Good luck. Sometimes those little patches produce some big results.

If there is a creek crossing on the property, you're golden. I'd take it slow with the cameras and minerals such as to start on the outside and work your way in. Also, try to find a pinch point near a crossing if possible. Set up your stand before a rain and stay away from it until you hunt it. the wind must be right. I've taken many nice bucks from such a set up. I also found out that the deer can be sensitive to human intrusion...... stand burn out.

    Good luck, sounds exciting.

I LOVE hunting small tracts, especially with water! Just be very careful bc these properties can get burnt out quick. Don't check your cam to often, hunt on good winds, and usually the rut is good bc of the water source

His kids and dogs are always back there, one crooked tree has a "fort" in it, just a platform. He said they've walked down in there and seen deer back on the other side of the creek and they just stand around and watch rather than run off. I've seen several walking across the roads when I go out to his place to have a beer. Planning in sticking a can just to figure out which direction they are coming from at the minimum.
