ok long story and sorry but one of my better friends is getting married...we knew each other in high school but ended up at the same college playing ball and living together for 4 years, so we are good friends.... his younger brother is planning the party and wants to go to vegas, and so do i cuz ive never been....

the grooms party- i am in grad school with basically a part time paying job, the brother doesnt work cause of school and football, one guy just got engaged and has a baby on the way in a few months with not the best paying job, and the last guy just got into a decent job this past summer....

the grooms father said he would throw out some money at the beginning of all this talk and was serious, but he has backed out on that cause he is a cheap bastard even though he does have a little money (wont even have alcohol at the wedding cause he said he wont pay for people to drink.... so ill have my own and lots of it)..

but anyway the brother quickly mentioned the other day that we gotta figure out how much itll cost for us to go and how much it would be to split up the grooms cost..

while we didnt really talk cause it was a brief conversation i got to thinking.... its gonna cost around 1000 for me to fly hotel and eat while im there, on top of the 1000++ i will take to spend and gamble....

i dont have a problem throwing in say 150-200 for him to get out there and have a hotel but not a cent more than that... i know one of the other agrees with me and the one wth the baby might not even go, but who knows..

i wanna have a good time and go to vegas for myself to tell ya the truth but for the groom to also?? am i being rational here or too generous in the first place?

Two large is a lot to blow in a weekend considering things. It also sounds like the rest of the guys are strapped. Have you guys thrown any other options on the table?

If you are in VA, (something in your sig line says VA...so...? IDK.) but, If you are in VA, why don't you just go up to Atlantic City? Or similar? Just as much fun can come from that, right?

Other options could include... Reno/Tahoe? (Used to live about 2hrs from...It's pretty cool, if you know where to go... Plus, there's always the Bunny Ranch if you go there! lol. kidding....

Just trying to throw out some options for you...

It's traditional that the grooms whole night is paid for by the attendee's. If it was my bachelor party and I had to pay I would be pissed. You guys need to think of something other than Vegas.

Where is Hooker when you need him? He will take this topic under his wing and have your party planned for you!

Beer and boobs. Every man loves both, and both are in short supply once married. Take the man to a strip club and save about $1500.

While Vegas would be awesome, y'all have to have somewhat reasonable expectations. I wouldn't go all out for a bachelor party if it was going to put me in a bind.

And you will have to pay for the groom. The last bachelor party I went too cost me $2k, b/c I paid for myself and the groom. And we just went to Houston for 1 night...

You will spend more than $2k in Vegas in 4 days. Trust me. Alcohol and strippers are not cheap in Vegas. Hell it will cost you $500 just to get a table in some of the top clubs.

Exactly!!!!! Beter yet stay home, rent a stripper and 2 kegs of beer. Say it cost $2 large. 10 guys split it $200/each and the groom parties for free. Problem solved.

Donut, it looks like you guys have been watching "The Hangover" too often. ALL of you are strapped at this point in life. Stay local and make things more reasonable for all.

Hooker, if I'm ever in LA I'm giving you a call. You sound like a good time!

spend the $$$$ you would in sin city in your own city and run that place for a night or two!

trust me it aint vegas you'll remember, its the fun you had with your buddies.

frickin tv and movies got us thinking we are rich and we can act a fool for a few nights in vegas in the emperor's suite.... oh me included!

my vote would be to stay home... wait till yall have your feet under you a bit more and land into McCarran another time

Vegas is a hell of a time. Went for 5 days last spring, and had a blast.

$1000 seems pretty steep to me, unless your are staying in a high class room. We were planning on going back for the NASCAR race, and it was only going to run us just over $500 for flight, tickets, and room. If you look around, you can find some cheaper hotels on the Strip (Luxor, Flamingo, Excalibur are all fairly cheap compared to others).

When we went, we ate McDonalds, and some other cheaper food options that the hotels offered, although we did hit up some more expensive places on our nights out though.
