Im with ya Greg! Copper tops are all I have ever used in my cams, except when I am running my Coverts on video, then I use Lithium's. I do run rechargeables in my home-brews tho.
I have run the coppertoos or procells(same thing) from Duracell. As far as a pile of dead batteries I use my almost dead rayovacs in my work headphones then toss them. I been watching for lithium deals. Best I seen was 7$ for 4. Other thing the camera battery meter don't read lithium batteries. I had one moultrie I thought was good and just slow action at night but sure enough lithium batteries read 56% and didn't have enough juice for a night flash.
I use lithium batteries in all electronics that id hate to have to replace. It's not some much the performance difference as it is I've had to replace items due to the regular batteries leaking.
I'm switching to Nimhs for the London term savings and better for the environment, plus they out perform alkalines and don't cost as much as lithium a Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have used Duracell, Energizer alkaline and lithium and Rayovac. Rayovac is okay as long as the temperature stays above 40. Once the temperature drops below 15 lithium is the only way to go. Duracell and Energizers work in between 15 and 40 degrees but ultimately lithium is the best all around. Walgreens usually has the best (sale) price followed by Sam's Club on lithium batteries.
My Browning died in a couple weeks with Energizer. However, it loves Duracell. Rayovacs are useless to me. I wish I could drop in a set of 8 lithium batteries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It really depends on the number of picture your camera takes. The more pictures the more of a drain on the batteries obviously. I receive 10s of thousands of pictures on my cameras each year so lithium works the best. If your in an area with fewer deer alkaline will work for you no matter what time of year or how cold it is.
I just got my Cuddeback C123 camera this morning in the mail and decided that Ill just use the cheaper rayovac alkaline batteries,I had picked them up at wal-mart 8 for $4 bucks Monday night because I knew my camera was comeing soon.. Anyway so I put the batteries in the camera and start programming it and I hear a little "pop" "Psssssss" noise in the back of the camera, thinking this isnt right I take the back off to check batteries and one of those Rayovacs explodes in my face putting Acid all over my face....! my face started burning right away so ran to the bathroom wiped off really quick, I was worried about my Camera so I ran back in the living room to find the batteries still was poping a little, grabed the camera and out the door we went and threw the Batteries on the porch and started cleaning the back battery compartment which was filled w/ battery acid. When I got home from work tonight I put Duracells in and everything is AOK....Thank god my camera is ok.... My face has some red burn marks on it but I think Ill be ok... Im calling Rayovak Wednesday morning !!
I got over a year and a half out of a set of lithiums in my first Covert. I only changed them because I thought they needed changed because of the length of time they had been in, but I think they would have went even longer. The camera was getting about 1000 pics per week. I think lithiums are well worth the higher up-front cost. Blessings.........Pastorjim
That is the first I have heard of a new battery exploding. I have seen old ones do that but never new ones. I hope every thing heals up well. Beefie
I have been using Ray-o-Vacs in my cameras. it has been -18 here the last two nights and after 292 photos where most of the pics used the flash my batteries read 94% I can't see spending the $.$$ for lithium. I'm not saying its wrong in any way but for the common guy usage I don't see the need.
