This is completely CRAZY!!! Def wanted to share this with you guys and hear your thought and opinions. I think its stupid and a horrible idea, could end up being really DANGEROUS! Still trying to see if this is real or not cause it seems completely ridiculous! I just got off the phone with the Suffolk County DEC Law Enforcement office and they are looking into it. Hopefully I'll hear more soon.

    I'm calling BS.
I'm pretty sure US fish and game laws would prohibit import and release of non-native species no matter what the local ordinance stated. Heard lots of stories about safari hunters not even being able to bring home the meat taken from game from Africa, etc...

Too many things working against it to be real IMHO.

I tell you another thing, if I lived there (and it was real) I would find a roadkill dog and claim a lion killed my pet and sue the wealth out of that guy just on general principle, lol.

But aren't lioness' the ones who do all the hunting in prides anyways? It would make more sense to get females so he clearly didn't think this out very well

“They are the natural predators of deer in South Africa,” he told this reporter at a meeting at his house on Friday. “I have done the math. Based on the rate that these carnivores eat meat, the deer herd should be gone in 10 days. This is mother nature at work.”

Ha Ha Ha, this story is complete Bull S***!!! Each of the 26 Lions will have to eat 1,154 deer a day to rid the "Hamptons" of its deer problem. And I don't foresee Game and Wildlife letting 26 Male lions just run around the town.

It's a joke, and a pretty funny one at that.

Apparently this author publishes as much legit news as he does humor.

I wouldn't worry about staying indoors for those 10 days.

thats hilarious, thats kinda what I told the DEC officer on the phone. I expressed how I would most likely be in tree at some point next week and if I happen to see one of these so called lions I will be shooting it, he laughed it off and said go right ahead thats one hell of a trophy! hahaha He thinks its complete BS as well but they are looking into it.

RIGHT?!?! I thought the exact same thing! Pretty stupid! Would be funny you pay all that money to get them here and they just lounge around waiting for the females which aren't even around to bring them their kills for dinner LOL

Yea pretty crazy once you see the breakdown LOL thanks for that. Seemed like such BS when we all heard about it, but now more and more people are talking about it that I just had to post it and call DEC about it cause its one of those things thats so insane you just need to know more and hear what others think.

I can think of two jerks that should be tarred and feathered and rode out of town on a rail.

That is some funny stuff right there! I think it was funny how it said they had to train the police force on how to shoot high powered rifles. I may be wrong, but shouldn't they already have that training before they became a police officer? lol Anyways there is no way they would let lions run around the Hampton's to control the deer population. It would be a huge public safety hazard.

Dans papers is always publishing totally bogus stories...guess they got you, and I'm sure many others...Years ago a coworker swore there was a highway through the middle of the island only the rich people knew about so they didn't have to deal with traffic like the rest of us...he was positive it was true, he read it in Dans papers...

26 dozen Easton arrows are much cheaper than lions. Id be happy to sit on some back porches and smoke deer for a job.
