Finch's thread on completing his new target got me wondering. What do some you folks who don't have a lot of room do to practice/shoot? I'm forced to shoot down the side of my house into my tiny back yard with a 20yrd max. Better than not practicing at all. Let's hear/see some of the ingenious setups you use to get it done.

I shoot from a mere 4 or 5 yards away in my garage.

I concentrate on muscle memory and nothing more throughout the summer months.

In mid-August I'll switch to broadheads and begin traveling to a open place to practice at 20 and 30 yards with broadhead.

Until then.. my muscle memory does not care whether I'm shooting 4 yards or 40 yards.

Due to me having too many neighbors I am restricted to shooting in my house. I can only shoot about 12 yards across my "games" room into my office area. I just use it to try and work on my target panic. I go to the local ranges to work on shooting at distances.

I have a 16 yrd shooting range in my basement. I can shoot up to 30 yrds in my back yard when my neighbors aren't around.

16.5 yards wall to wall in my basement. It's better than nothing.

I shoot in my back yard I can get 35 yards at an angle. Right before season (now) I start going down to my buddys camp and shoot farther just to check things out and watch the arrows fly.

We just moved into our new to us house, city law is you are not allowed to shoot any kind of weapon in town, but at our old house I used to shoot in the back yrd at about 15 yards max. I had some very undertanding neighbors, and did not care as long as I wasnt shooting in their direction. I have a perfect spot at the new house right next to my garage that I could make a lane about 15 to 20 yards long. It has a back stop already built in, but I think I will add some boards to the sides just to make it safer yet. I will post some pics when I get it all set up.

I can shoot out to 27 yds. in my yard which is great. When I first moved in I called the local police department to check on the city regs and found out it was ok as long as I had a solid backstop. My shed worked perfectly. After shooting a couple of times a neighbor from three houses down stormed down and yelled at my wife who was in the garage saying it was illegal and I might shoot her dog when they put it out. I promptly went down to her house told her it wasn't illegal, I don't shoot when anything is down range, people or dog, I she could shove it because I wasn't going to stop. Three weeks later their house was up for sale and has been on the market for four years. None of my other neighbors have a problem w/ it. Sorry for the long response, it just makes me chuckle everytime I think about it. For longer distances I go to my local archery club range.

10 yards in my basement. That's where my best practice happens.

Since I don't shoot much 3D anymore, I really focus on indoor season.......because while I don't have time to practice yardage and look at 3D targets several times a week...........I can still practice perfect shots at 10 yards in my basement. Typically I'm able to shoot 2-4 times a week in my basement, then show up on league night and at a full 20 yard distance I'm able to average some pretty good scores. 10 yards is a great place to practice setting up the shot right, building tension in the right spots, and most importantly aiming and rhythm.

For me its called stump shooting, wander the woods and shoot at unknown distances, the BEST practice there is, period!

I also belong to any archery club, well worth the $100 a year!

or shoot into the bag target just to keep muscles and form in top shape!

I've only ever shot in my front yard, but i can get up to 80 yards easily. I've never even thought how difficult it would be to practice and shoot living in a city atmosphere.

I live in a pretty metropolitan area right outside of NYC, I can get 35 yds from the edge of the driveway to the fence at the back edge of the yard. Neighbors don't mind, (except for the orifice next door, been feuding with him since he moved in.) That's ok with me though the court order says he is to have no contact with me. He comes out of his back door and shoots me a dirty look and I smile back and wave. If I move it into the street I can get out to 40 yds.

I have shot up to 50 and 60 in my yard, but now I have youngsters running around. I usually head out to my inlaws out in the country and shoot there when I get time. safety first.
