I'm about to pull the trigger on a fluid head but I was curious as to what you guys recommend. I'd like a manfrotto but I'd consider others. Going to be for a G40 and want something lighter than my previous MV500AH.

My previous one was too heavy of a setup really for my G20. The built in drag also made it a little frustrating for a lighter weight camera

Smooth as butter although a bit heavy. Weighed it on my UPS scale at work and the three items leveler, fluid head and camera weigh in at 7.78lbs.

Personally, coming from that 500, I just don't see the need for a self filmer, especially one that has a stand on his back 75% of the time. I'd rather save the 3-4lbs because when it comes down to the actual self filmed footage, it's never going to be perfect. There's just too much going on at once to accomplish keeping the deer centered perfectly every time. I've killed a few on film and I know you pack a stand too but after running my previous setup for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, I know what I'd like to make changes to

60 yrs old here. Didn't think I could carry it all till I discovered "Kifaru" backpack frame. Unbelievable I'm training with 80 lbs and the pack is rated for 120lbs my gear weighs 55 so it should be easy after training with 80

I have all the equipment to carry properly BUT when you kill something it's brutal. I want to save any weight I can now with some public land hunts and long walks ahead of me

Yup I have recovery gear back at the truck. We walk out after finding the deer. Put all our hunting gear away and return with our recovery gear. Cabelas magnum game hauler cart. Knives, bone saws, rope, ratchet straps, etc. And if we're on our uncles land the John Deere Gator.

This is exactly what I'm interested in.......I have a Proam Head now, and although I love the extended handle, not really happen with the head itself...

I went light because after the setup I used last year I knew that the lighter the less bounce in the tree arm. I'm using a Manfrotto 700RC2 on both my tripod and my tree arm and am very happy with it.

I received my MVH400AH head and it's exactly what I wanted. It's unreal light compared to my 500 series head. It's not quite as smooth but it's still plenty smooth. Very happy
