I am always searching for something unique and new and I wasn’t let down when I stumbled upon the “Square Up” a torque indicator created by Mike at Lightning Bowstrings located in Killingworth, Ct. Most of us probably have had issues shooting a little to the right or a little to the left and most of the time this is a result of bow torque. It is simply and best stated on lightning Bowstrings website; “Bow torque is simply a misalignment of the bow risers twist axis, which places the bows riser and arrow rest out of square to the most efficient nock travel. This bow torque/twist absolutely affects the bows tune. It will result in fishtailing arrows and a high percentage of left and right misses.” The Square Up is a simple indicator that is extremely light weight and works by mounting to your quiver mounting holes on your bow. Then set bracket over center position. Make the vertical adjustment of the indicator, and then at full draw align your pins between the strings on the Square Up as shown in the picture below. You can use Square Up whether you use a peep or not which makes this a better torque indicator and more functional. Once you have the Square Up set up and ready it will allow you several things, starting with real time reference on bow hand torque, ability to correct your grip before each shot, increase your effective range and finally it will work on every bow. I personally found it very simple and quick to set up. It allowed me the opportunity to just see how much if any torque I was putting on my bow prior to shooting. I was surprised that I was fortunate and was not torqueing my bow at all. The Square Up is light enough to keep on your bow should you ever torque your bow during those crucial shots allowing instant correction on sight. Lightning Bowstrings LTD. is also very pleased to announce that Square Up is now an officially licensed product of Mossy Oak Brand Camo. On their website www.LightningBowstrings.com pricing is $65.00 for the black Square Up or $75.00 for the Mossy Oak Camo Square Up. In closing the Square up will simply change the way you shoot. Very interesting product. I went onto their webite and a lot of the pages are not up and working, all I could find was a pretty generic video. I couldn't imagine this working on a slider sight but I could be wrong. Do you know anywhere else there is information, maybe pictures?
Lightning Bowstrings "SquareUp" (Handy bow torque indicator) Your Message Will work with any pin sight. I have a target mount that is a thinner mounting bracket designed to go underneath the sight against the riser that accomodates to slider. When you elevate the pin on the slider sight you move the pin guard as well so the round housing of the Squareup is not always perfectly concentrical onthe sight like you would have it on a fixed sight. Most guys will set the concentricity at 30 Yds or where ever the center of there comfortable range is.
