Reason being this is my first year using lighted nocks and both deer i shot ducked very hard, harder than i ever seen deer duck a arrow. I'm thinking they are seeing the lighted nock when shooting say 30 yards havent had any closer than that to see if it makes a diff. i love the fact that i see where my arrow goes just dont like the fact the results i'm getting are not what i planned. Has anyone had this happen?
I voted that I like them simply because I like watching videos of them being shot, I have never actually used them myself.
I've shot 5 deer with lighted knocks so far, I cant tell they are ducking but I haven't shot anything past 20 yards.
I think they are cool... but am going to have to be "that" guy. If the hunter has them to help him see his arrow flight... there can be a tendency to break form at the release. Watch the videos of hunters shooting deer and you can see that little kick. A dollar to a donut that kick comes from breaking form to watch the arrow. No matter the sport; throwing, swing a golf club, shooting a basketball, hitting a baseball... follow through is critical... even using a firearm... more so with archery. Other than that possibility... I would vote yes and consider buying some.
Mostly that; I like them in general but on the only deer I ever personally shot with one the nock (a nockturnal mounted on a CX Maxima Red) popped off soon as it hit the deer and was lost. I saw it flip up in the air but I was concentrating on the deer's direction instead of the nock (wisely) and the nock fell too deep into the leaf litter to see. Never found the nock b/c it snowed later that night. I think the Maxima's little bushing forced the nock out. All in all I'd say they are useful but no where near fool proof. PS: mine didn't duck but he was quartering away at 18yds and never had a chance.
Not a fan, I've used three or four different brands and they're all junk. I've never had issues seeing impact in most situations. I'll use my money elsewhere.
I like seeing them on video but have not used them personally either. I've never had a problem seeing my arrow impact a deer? I have seen video's where the knock helped find the deer. Glowing knock sticking up and night is pretty cool though that wouldn't help me personally, all the deer I've shot the last few years passed through or broke and fell out at the sight of impact. So, I'd say they look cool but I don't feel I need them so don't use them.
I like them, I know they've helped me tell where my hit is. I shot a buck at 50 yards and he didn't seem to mind the nock Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like them. I have been using them a couple seasons. I really like being able to see where exactly my arrow does or does not hit.
I heard something a while back about one state out west making them illegal. I can't remember which, but that seems fairly absurd to me.
I like them haven't had any problems. Been using Noctournals exclusively for 3 years now and love them.
I know for a fact they are illegal in Idaho. I think some additional states as well. It is absurd as it provides no advantage in shooting an animal, but can absolutely help with recovering one that is already shot. In Idaho you can't have/use any electronically powered device mounted or affixed to your archery equipment, from lighted nocks to rheostat lights to cameras. I get why they don't want artificially lighted sights (but they should also ban trijicons as well, and to my knowledge have not) but nocks and cameras don't make any sense. Just too broad of language in the statute I guess.
Started using nocturnals this year and I love em. I don't know how many arrows I've lost in the past and these have made it a no brainer to find when I get out of the tree... assuming it's a clean pass through which was the case for the first two deer I shot this year. I haven't noticed any difference in ducking. I'll definitely be sticking with them.
Nockturnals work as advertised. They are very well made. This is one product that you get what you pay for. Buy cheap junk, you will have cheap junk. Lighted nocks will definitely save me some arrows. Some of the fields I hunt near have very tall grass and finding arrows can be difficult otherwise.
